C#

deleting application icon after dropping

so lets say i have fake program with real icon i set it in my project properties. but after running the application it drops itself to specific directory but i want the icon of the application gets removed so the victim dosent know its the real program that running in the background. maybe using filestream? i dont know how but if you know a way that would be great (its .net C# exe)
Create a transparent icon Just add the icon to your resources. Project + Properties, Resource tab, arrow on Add Resource button, Add Existing File. Then you'd use it like this at runtime:
Code
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
        this.Icon = Properties.Resources.ResourceFile;
    }

And resource file would be your transparent icon.

button click? its hidden my app only appears as process in task manager. if i did your steps above where to put the real icon that i want?.. to make this clear more i want the default icon to appear in task manager after it drops itself ( with it having the real icon before dropping )

I was using that as an example of execution if you can't figure it out when the code is literally spoon-fed to you, you shouldn't be doing what you are doing...

Well it seems like he is trying to do this with a console app, not a forms app. Therefore, this.Icon would not work.

OP I have a solution for you. It’s not the best way to do it but most simple.

So first you need your payload with a set name. Let’s call it GTACheats.exe

Make a new folder called GTACheats and put GTACheats.exe inside of this folder. Right click the payload and set the file attributes to hidden and click apply. Note if you victim is not a retard he may have show hidden files on. So it may look sus but the average person wont notice.

Next you wanna make a new .net console app and call this one Launcher.exe

Within launcher.exe, all you need to do is start GTACheats.exe

Code
Process.Start(“GTACheats.exe”);

Now you can add a fake error to pop up so it’s less suspicious. You can look that up if ur interested. (MessageBox.Show)

Now build the launcher.exe with a believable GTA mod menu icon. And build GTACheats.exe with a “Hidden” icon (settings logo, default console app icon, etc).

Then put the launcher.exe in the GTACheats folder. When the victim runs launcher.exe, it will launch ur actual malware. ur actual malware will have a different icon then launcher.

I understand that this isn’t the best way but it’s the most simple way. if any advanced c# devs wanna correct me with a better way then reply!

bro this is literally my alternative way because i don't think there is a way exists as i explained above, but thank you so much for trying to help really <3.
look this is my method, i make a harmless fake form with a clone of the real program i want or reverse engineering the real program and then put my malware with it in the same folder and then inside my fake form i implement some codes with
Process.start in my main method to make form doesn't start only until if the malware exists if it doesn't exist i show error message lol, little sneaky ( the fake form with whatever icon i want i put in project properties ) this method i made by myself btw no one helped me but thinking out of the box is good.
the guy method explain above with
this.icon
doesen't work i tried it. but it only changes the icon of the taskbar and this wasn't what i asked for.

again this doesn't work u need InitializeComponent() for it to work but i cant do that in my malware also this doesn't change the icon of the application like what i asked for, it changes only icon of the taskbar. not even in taskmanager processes

You’re being spoon-fed and you’re struggling to even hold the spoon.

He is right though… why not have your “malware” use use codeDom to compile a new version without the icon upon running…

He's been doing this quite often here with different accounts trying to social engineer you guys into writing software for him for free so he can sell it  or sell it as a service. This is common in programming forums. 😆
