Yeh they have a really sweet taste. I like it but I can see why people would hate it.

It's the opposite for me, Red Bull always leave with some sort of weird aftertaste while Monsters (especially the flavor variants) just taste like a normal fizzy drink.
I've personally always preferred coffee for my day rather then energy drinks though but I would probably carry a Red Bull/Monster over to the gym if I don't have time to make an intra-workout drink.

NOS is pretty solid as well if you guys have tried it.
The original NOS is pretty solid, I do like the grape version as well.

Never knew NOS had alternative flavors, only ever seen the original blue can anywhere. Will have to try out the grape one, Monster Ultra Violet (grape) is probably my favorite energy drink overall

It may depend on region. I know some Rockstar flavours aren't sold in Canada.
