Well, I don't know the circumstances, but perhaps you could say your father recently passed away from cancer and you became angry because of that? Usually when you bring up a death in the immediate family, people are forgiving of that.

If they are asking for you to not to reach out, there is a reason for that. I would say to reach out right away would possibly be the wrong approach and instead I would wait at least 24 hours, reevaluate the circumstance and then at that point if you still feel like you need to apologize then do so.

I'd say time heals everything. Give the person some space, and hopefully an opportunity presents itself.
