Kipland Kinkel finally speaks

For decades, Kinkel refused every interview request and even avoided being photographed in group activities inside the prison. But finally he has given an interview.

Kinkel was on a mind-altering drug. Marijuana is also a mind-altering drug.

Prozac was not the right drug for someone having constant auditory hallucinations.

If they weren't mentally ill before, fiddling with the delicate brain with drugs like cannabis is a way to guarantee they will be afterwards.

He's a cold-blooded murderer and should be put to death.

He was never smoking cannibus that I've seen from any articles. Not sure he was a "cold blooded murderer," this seems one of the rare cases where actual psychosis was the cause of his murders if he is telling the truth about anything. He has never had a bad word to say about either of his parents, claims that they were very good people that he loved very much. Claims he said "I really love you" before shooting his mom. Claims the voices told him he would not be allowed to die until he killed his parents and others. He didn't even go for an insanity defense but he is apparently trying to get out now due to a change in the law where minors aren't allowed to be put in prison for life in his jurisdiction any more.

I'm pretty confident his appeals on this will fail because usually when laws change in the USA they don't work retroactively for those sentenced under the old system. I only found out he's trying for appeal since posting this though so maybe the whole story in it is bs after all. I dunno.

His motive has always been classed as "mental illness, schizophrenia" rather than the usual "revenge on society" personality disorder mass murders or terrorist politically motivated mass murders this one was classed as an anomaly. Kinkel claims he rejected a mental illness defense because of his remorse.

Possibly he might have killed his parents in revenge because of having a brilliant, gifted, perfect older sister. But he claims they never used any type of punishment on him other than their disapproval and saying they were disappointed in him.

You don't know he's never tried cannabis secretly, but I never said he had. Drug-induced "psychosis" is not a rare "cause" of murder, nor is "psychosis" an excuse for murder.

I have found nothing about Kinkel and weed.

I know you think this is an insult or a "bad faith" argument, but it absolutely isn't. I think you have a problem with obsessive thoughts and something like Prozac or Quetiapine could possibly help you.

It's still possible he smoked it. The pattern of mind-altering drug use and violence is still there, nonetheless.

I'd rather keep my alleged obsessive thoughts than risk drug-induced brain damage, but thanks for your concern.

Friends and acquaintances described a boy with an all-American upbringing but who was obsessed with bombs and guns, dressed in black and listened to Marilyn Manson.

If only people cared as much about the lives of those he injured and murdered. He deserves the death penalty for real justice to be served, and to ensure he cannot reoffend. I don't care if he claims he's better now. He's a loose cannon and murdered, Thou shalt not murder.

This has all the hallmarks of marijuana-induced psychosis. He lived in California where it's legal, and his friends reported he used drugs.

I think staying in the same prison for so long is probably worse than the death penalty actually.
