I have some friends I speak to regularly online because we're almost always online due to our jobs, but with my 'real' friends from school, uni and life, it tends to be less often, sometimes we go months before getting in touch. Today I had a one hour catch up with one of my best friends and it was great, but we both said we should probably be in better contact, however life gets in the way. How often do you talk with yours?

Every second day with one of my good IRL buddies , my online friends everyday.
Usually a handful of times per month. Sometimes longer, it depends. If you can pick up where things left off from when you last talked, that's how you know they're a good friend.
Those who bitch and complain about not talking every day are the ones you need to look out for.
Less then I should, I really need to have more contact with them. I'm afraid ill lose them otherwise.

I'm every other day if not every day with my closest friend, but probably should be more often like you with my other close friends too.

Yeah for real, being able to just take a call and pick up where you left off is the ideal friendship. I had one friend who would be like "why don't you care?" if I'd been more than a few days, was so draining! On the other hand I had one friend who would not message or call for the best part of a year and or ignore messages, and then wonder why people didn't want to speak to him any more, so odd.

I'm sorry to hear that! Just reach out and see how they're doing, say you saw something that reminded you of them etc, freshen things up a bit maybe. You're a good guy, they'll stick around.

We are all men who have things to take care of in our personal lives. If they cannot understand that then you shouldn't want them in your circle anyway. The real friends will understand and the ones that don't, won't last. Once you focus on yourself, you'll be able to discover who is who.

Good, that's good! Consider me one of your online friends, you're a cool person and I always like your posts!

Very true, some people are just either so wrapped up in themselves or have so little going on they like to attack others for being busy or just not being in constant contact, or go the other way entirely and just don't care and fade away. Best to keep the circle smaller and higher quality, and just maintain those good relationships that go the longest way.

That's exactly what it is. I noticed when people's lives are boring, they welcome drama and as you said, quality over quantity. I have 2 close friends and we all understand we'll talk to each other when we can. If not, no biggie.
And if I'm honest, it makes the time spent together more memorable compared to seeing/talking to each other every day.
The time learns you that if you really got some good friends they will ask for you and vice versa that doesnt mean you have to see them every week or month just stay intouch. i had a best friend once he was married no one heard about him meanwhile my other friends they got married and yet we stay in touch once in while do something together. but we got a whatsapp group where we speak daily and send memes and stuff. so yeah.
a true best friend is the one that will ask about you or will help you in time of need and you can call each other brothers figure of speaking.
ps
sorry for the bad english.

Can't stand those drama whore types! Yeah that sounds ideal, and you're bang on the money there, it makes it more special and not so diluted or empty conversation.

Sorry to hear about the best friend! Sometimes some people will look for someone or something to fill a hole in their life, and when someone or something new and exciting comes along, they forget about the rest. It'll come to bite them though, when they have problems or serious issues and no one is there to help them pick up the pieces. The other friends sound like good people though, and the group chat is a nice idea to keep little laughs going along the way.
And no worries, your English is very good! One little thing though, life teaches you, not learns you. Hope that helps!
