C#

Licensing your .NET applications

Hello HF,

If you're making a tool and worried about how you can license it out and sell your project, look no further.

I wrote a C# licensing software and honestly I just want people to try it out and give me their opinions. I wrote it as I found myself
always creating my own system for licensing and spending hours of work on just allowing people to access the application I was developing.

If anyone is interested in using my licensing system, Tartarus, you can download the library and dashboard from
my website and I'll be giving away app credits to all new registered users.

I hope someone can find use out of the application and any feedback is greatly appreciated and very welcomed. This has been a little side project
of mine for awhile and I would love to just have it be used.

I also made a demo app to demonstrate integration of Tartarus into your app, and how easy it is. Tartarus is tamper-resistant and secure. Give it a try.

Thank you,
Static

Share a bin with a flag, I will give it a little test run

Latest version of both the library and dashboard is on https://Tartarus.gg

Please feel free to do any analysis and try it out.

You can download the dashboard at:

https://tartarus.gg/updates/update.zip

VirusTotal:

The dashboard is not malicious, it is obfuscated which is most likely why VirusTotal is throwing false positives.

Good luck with the Project, however we all know exactly where license systems get used most. In the development of malware, with that being said good luck your better off operating it open source.

I understand the usage of Tartarus can be used in applications distributing or creating malware. However, there are many applications used in the development of malware, and no matter what if someone wants to develop malware they will find a way using tools that are not meant for malware development. Even with that being said, I do no plan on allowing malware to use Tartarus.

If I could afford to run the server for free I would release the project open source, but the reason for the paywall is to pay for the server.

Well you can just open source the server too, there could be flaws that you may have passed over that others in the open source community can help patch.
How can I learn C++ very easily?

C++?

This is a C# thread. C++ isn't the greatest language to start developing with, I would recommend an object-oriented programming language, C# or Java to start.

I could, however it is a freemium tool for people to implement into their application. If you have an application with a small circle you can use it for free.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with just open sourcing the server code. Why can't you just do that?
I have no reason to use it yet but it still seems like a well structured project.

In any case I don't trust using it as it is not open-source and obfuscated.

I advise you to work on it by making it public to everyone, in order to receive useful advice for the continuation of your project.

Good luck and if possible I'd be curious to see updates about it.

The library used for authentication is open-source. The dashboard is obfuscated for server security.

Just open source all of it
Looks cool.
Can you recommend a good Obfuscator for .NET apps?
\(〇_o)/
What stops people from choosing a competitor like keyauth for example, prices are much better, more features, and better security as in how it's implemented.

cause the security relies on the developer of the program and not the licensing service, well most of it relies on the developer

what stops a user from patching out your DLL? does your licensing service have any checksums, the website is very vague, no github just a download to the example.

if you are deciding it keep it vanilla I recommend just open-sourcing the project so others can also help build on it and make it better.

also requiring your users to use the materialskin framework is pretty bold

Something that isn't public, is your best bet, or paying for Themida or something but that can be pricey
