There’s this weird part of the American gun culture people from other countries could never understand. It’s like a decent sized group of people with a “just try me” urge. So, they sit around waiting for someone to break into their house or rob them or whatever, so they can shoot someone. It’s to the point where these people deliberately leave their doors unlocked or go into bad areas just to shoot someone. When nothing happens, they seem to turn into this guy and just shoot someone turning around in their driveway or knocking at the wrong door.

crazy imagine entering the wrong doordash/uber address or they pull up to the wrong address and boom homie gets lit up.
Sad. should be in prison as that is unreasonable reason to shoot someone

I have read three of these stories in the last week and I don't go looking for this stuff at all. I do look at true crime sites. These stories are dominating the news lately but I can think of three more outside this week like Amber Guyger for one. And they all get shocked about how they're such good citizens with no priors and thought they'd get self defence. People need to realise how difficult it is to get a self defense verdict because none of these people are getting that. Amber Guyger will probably never get out. Biggest I could think of is George Zimmerman. Chase actively persuade a child got into a scuffle and then shot him. Found not guilty due to “stand your ground” laws. The defense will try to argue what’s “responsible fear”. Is someone knocking on your door enough for “responsible fear”. Maybe this homeowner was having issues in the past with Black Americans. Maybe he never got visitors and was frightened when a random stranger approached his home. Believe it or not those can be enough to get a specific juror to say “yea I could see that happening” and the guy gets off.

I've never seen this happen outside of the USA.
Not everybody should have access to a gun... |
