Let's take a moment to emphasize the importance of staying hydrated after a night of drinking alcohol. Currently, I find myself without any water, having consumed 2 liters of beer right before going to sleep. Normally, I make sure to have water readily available on my bedside table or computer desk, with extra in the fridge. However, tonight is one of those nights where I've completely run out of drinkable water.
I typically opt for purchasing water in glass or plastic bottles. It's crucial for all of us to prioritize our hydration, whether we've consumed just one beer or an entire bottle of whiskey. This is especially vital when we've mixed different types of liquors and have been indulging in heavy drinking and going hard for hours.
STAY HYDRATED
If I know I’m going to be drinking heavily I try to hydrate ahead of time. Then after the night is done, I finish off with some water. I found that getting hydrated prior to it though really helps with the hangover.

I'm no scientist but I always prefer my water to be tasty if I plan to drink some liquor unless it is a beer then I don't need any water.
Edit: I didn't read the OP thoroughly but yep, you need to replenish all lost water in your body. Peeing means draining all those toxic substance from the night and water was always included.
If you can replenish young electrolyte then do it too.
It's very important, I drink water before and slip in some water while I'm drinking usually 1:1 with what I'm drinking. After drinking depending on how I feel I finish the night off with more water.

Drinking water after alcohol is important to prevent dehydration and reduce the severity of hangover symptoms.
I always drink plenty of water before going to sleep, And even when I wake up, I try to consume more of water based foods to make sure my body is hydrated.
I don’t drink but hydration is important after you consume alcohol. Else you’ll get alcohol poisoning.
Water is pretty important with or without alcohol lol
I always drink water alongside alcohol, hate feeling like death the next morning. But then again I barely drink anyway so it's not a big deal for me.

Alcohol's a diuretic, which means it makes you pee more. And when you're draining the tank without refilling, you're setting yourself up for a nasty hangover. Dehydration messes with your brain, energy, and mood. Always make it a point to down a glass of water for every drink. And yeah, after a heavy night, chugging water is a lifesaver.
Waking up with a dry throat full of mucus is the worst. I try to drink water before bed but doesn't always happen that way lol.

As a heavy drinker myself Water helps but is not the best, You need to replenish your electrolytes so Pedialyte or Gatorade works better, also before heavy drinking eat a heavy meal, this will help absorb some of the alcohol left in your liver as well as coat your stomach. You'll also need to replenesh your Magnesium,Vitamin B and C and if too nausiated to eat food the next day make sure to at least drink protein drinks such as Muscle Milk or Ensure. Try to avoid Darker liquors such as Whiskey and Brandy and even Dark Beer drink clear as it contains less congeners of which may stimulate the body to release stress hormones, such as norepinephrine and epinephrine. Hope this helps! Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually tap water is my preference to drink throughout the day. But it's even more delicious after booze.

Very important for balance hydrated
Do yourself a favor and have a full cup after every two mixed drinks.
