On typing tests I've hit over 120+ before, but that's for the type speed tests. The actual WPM of real work - like thinking about what you may say, or what code you want to write... obviously can't hit 120. However, I think that WPM on a speed test is a good indicator of your ability to type without looking in general.
What is your max WPM?
I used to test my skills on an online game, I'm better in french than english and depending of the keyboard I'm typing on I usually go between 90 and 110 WPM
Do you think there are any "training programs" or tips to improve this ? I heard about people using all their fingers and putting their fingers in specific positions
I'm pretty sure there are championships of WPM haha

Yeah, so for placement I do :
Left pointer on F, left pinky on A
Right pointer on J, right pinky on ; symbol
Then I can type without looking for minutes at a time basically just hitting the keys from those starting positions. I don't know what this is called, but is what I was taught in the 90s/early 2000s in elementary & middle school. It's worth it... I can close my eyes and not look at keys OR screen. It's such a good skill to have because it makes everything online / on a computer 100x easier than if you have to look at things.
I just hit 80 on the tester. However, I don't really have to do too much typing on a computer throughout my days so I don't really focus on being fast.
I would say I average around 100 WPM.
Hit 90 as i remember , but i usually dont look to screen , i may have better results if i did on mobile

My average WPM is around 100-110 but when doing those speed typing tests, I can max out around 130WPM depending on the words being thrown at me. I've been regularly typing on keyboards for nearly 30 years and I'm proficient on several instruments which has helped with overall dexterity.
My player stats from this typing game I play. 86wpm averaged from 188 sessions. I hit that 100wpm on a Chromebook keyboard years ago lol. Closest I've come to my personal record again was 99wpm probably last week with my new keyboard.

Nice, chromebooks can be small too! Have you ever used an ergonomic or otherwise unique keyboard for hand placement? I'm assuming you type with fingers in set positions using full 10 fingers. 99-100 is good especially if its 86 average over time too.
Bout a 100 WPM.
The perfect amount where I can switch from dictating at work to typing on a keyboard and be about equally productive.
Really nice if someone’s trying to talk to me while I’m dictating.

Do you ever use voice to text or always type? I like to multi task type & listen but some people don't understand I can, so they will ask for my full attention. Although this is not really at work, more personal life if I'm working remotely.

It’s called dragon at my job.
There’s a handheld device you just have to lightly talk while barely holding it and it will document everything I say.
Had a pretty low error rate.

I don't have any set positions for my fingers, taught myself how to type around 5-6 years old on the family PC, I also don't tend to use my pinky fingers often when typing. Typing like this got me in trouble with the Keyboarding teachers in elementary and middle school all the time; regardless that I had the class' highest WPM haha.
I think back in like 2016 I had used an ergonomic type of keyboard, one of those wavy ones. It was probably very cheap though and why I didn't enjoy it, currently I just use gaming keyboards haha. Corsair K100 right now and just switched from the Razer Blackwidow, my avg on the Blackwidow was probably around 70-75WPM.
Maybe if I found a HQ typists keyboard and got used to it, I could break past 100WPM finally lol!

That's a fairly good WPM without set positions, so that's good. Some of the cool keyboards are definitely worth it if you want to increase wpm, but it doesn't matter nearly as much these days with LLMs & such
