Thanks how Long you need to earn $1
By looking at this (Earnings are for a full month 24/7 at 100% intesity on a monsterous 28 cores, 56 threads cpu)
its basically wasting money and truly is "paying to work" rather than profiting from work.

Let's do the math,
we will leave the price of this (relatively VERY expensive) machine, and we will assume we already have it.

This CPU "TDP" (Thermal Design Power - represents the average power, in watts) rated at 205w, but lets say its 150w (we're being generous).
150w for a full day
150w*24 = 3600 = 3.6Kw Daily

for a full month and let say its 28 days a month (still generous)
3.6Kw * 28 = 100.8Kw a month

The Average Electricity Rate in the U.S. is 16.21 cents per kilowatt-hour.
So after all that, it's going to cost you at least 100.8*0.1621 = 16.34$ monthly
and that with being super generous on a machine that cost at least 2k usd that is totally dedicated to that "work".

If you are willing to pay triple (probably more in not generous and more real life scenerios) for every dollar you earn,
that's kinda dumb, not scalable and not profitable.
Even if your electricity is free, assigning that kind of machine only for that work will take you at least
333 months to break even the cost of the machine before you start to really earn something.

That's my 2 cents on that, hope it's clear and bright as the sun 😎
Dude .

It varies for everyone. Depends on your PC but usually a few weeks to a month. I mentioned earlier it does take some time but this isn't bad if you need some extra pocket change.

As the previous poster said, you won’t make a cent with this due to the electricity fees. Plus when you factor in hardware costs and running your CPU at high intensity it simply is not worth it. It’s just maths.

Fantastic breakdown, thank you for that.

I don't think its a big issue if I'm not paying for electricity. I don't leave my PC on 24/7 and I'm currently running it on 20-30% while I Netflix and check emails daily. I turn it off at the end of the night when I'm done using my PC.

But regarding about hardware It would most likely ruin it if I ran it on maximum settings which I'm not.

Thank you for the breakdown! A very HQ post and detailed.
But lets say I'm not paying for electricity and I don't run it 24/7 only when I decide to use the PC which is about 7-12 hours a day (checking emails, watching movies, researching, gaming)

your calculations are excelent!

Yes, they are! A very HQ post but not everyone will be running this 24/7. Think about it. People will be running it while multitasking during the day and you can turn it off whenever you would like.

Thats just what I think and my opinion. Not everyone will agree with me but its all good.
