I haven't played one of those in fucking YEARSSS haha. I used to have a blast on them back in the day though. Lots of great memories from those times.

I feel that. Did you mean you were bored of OSRS in particular or gaming in general atm?

I do not anymore, but there is still a niche demand for them. Many of the existing servers have player counts located on their webpages, and after all these years, there still are hundreds/thousands of users online at any given point.

I still think it be fun to work on a decent source as a fun project. I don't enjoy Java - or OOP for that matter - as much as i once did. I know many servers run on Kotlin now, but there is a slight learning curve with Kotlin. Still, maybe I will play around with it; i enjoyed working on one back in the day.

Are there any servers popular nowadays that were also back in the day? I guess "back in the day" is subjective so maybe just any you knew from your earliest days messing with them and that maybe are still popping now?

Looking at Runelocus toplist, it looks like Grinderscape is still around. That's a real OG server by 3lou 55. Other names I recognize that have been around for a long time are: Near-Reality (been recreated by a few owners), RoatzPk (forget who owned that), Ikov (same OG owner - David), Battle-Scape (not sure if that is the original though). Most of the top servers (Simplicity, RuneWild, Zeah, etc.) have been around for at least a few years.

just gaming in general. On a weird I don't feel like gaming streak right now. So I'm just playing idle games.

Feel that. Always sucks getting in a slump with gaming. Been happening to me a lot more in recent years as well as funny enough with more than ever to play. Games just don't hit the same for me as they used to or most of the time anyway. Hoping some upcoming games or big updates to already released games will change that for at least a bit.

If you don't mind spending some money, I have had fun playing Enshrouded (in beta, but IMO, better than Valheim) and Valheim with some friends recently.

Elden Ring, Baldur's Gate, and Hogwarts Legacy are a few other games I want to play. I was able to play the hogwarts game for a couple hours and it's pretty laid back game.

I basically only play counterstrike so that is all I got for suggestions. From time to time, I'll hop on BTD5/Golf With Friends to kill time with the boys, or OSRS when extremely bored.

Have seen a handful for Enshrouded and Valheim, but they seem like games I'd want to jump into with some friends if I did pick them up. They didn't crazily catch my attention anyway though. Elden Ring I just finished 100%ing a few weeks ago after coming back to it and yeah that game is just a pure masterpiece. Can't wait for the DLC in June. Hogwarts I played for a while, but didn't get that into. It's decent for sure though. Baldur's just isn't really my kind of game. I've just been bouncing between the few comfort games so to speak that I have recently, one of which is OSRS of course haha. They're games that I'm just kind of killing time on though, not necessarily that into and having a ton of fun on currently. It's just easy to jump on them and do whatever when nothing else sounds more fun.

Used to play them a lot. Was a high level player on codeusa and on near reality but that was many years ago and pre eoc. I only played them because rs was going downhill at the time. Osrs is basically like a "good" private server now, so I just play that.

NR, that's another one I remember and played on. No idea how progressed I got on there or anything, but I do recall it being a server I played a lot. Good shout towards that great server.

I've played both enshrouded and valheim and I loved them both. My friends just don't play it and I don't enjoy those games by myself. Super good time though.
