Those are the words of a random user on the forum. I came across this quote under a marketplace thread, and I think that his suggestion is actually pretty valid.. and would lead to more transparency on products being sold, as well as how users who purchased said products felt about their purchase.. without having to necessarily take the time to leave a review or vouch.
"I wish these types of threads had positive, neutral, negative rating scores."
If every marketplace thread had a Positive/Neutral/Negative ticker directly attached to the OP, it would allow potential customers to know how past customers felt about the product, without needing to go thru 15 pages of threads. And lets be real, a lot of user don't leave reviews or vouches after they purchase products, for one reason or another... whether it be too lazy to go back to the thread, or they just plain forget. If a user received a PM after completing a contract, asking them their opinion on their purchase - positive/neutral/negative, and their answer automatically got sent to the ticker displayed on the marketplace thread... it would encourage more users to leave feedback on products they purchased.
I know this won't be big amongst those that sell services and products that they know don't produce what they claim, but for those that are actually selling good products that customers are pleased with, this would be a game changer in helping potential new \ customers know that your product is truly what you claimed it to be. This wouldn't eliminate normal reviews and vouches, but would be an addition to help let people know whether the product they're about to spend their last $20 dollars on, is worth it.
A thriving marketplace, with good products, brings return customers and referrals to new customers and members to the site. Bad products, that don't produce what they claim create a negative atmosphere around the niche products they sell. You might be selling a genuine product or service, that actually produces the results you claim.. but due to others products in the same niche, that may be a little more popular then yours, but bare false claims, has new potential customers weary on whether they should even try you product.
Food for thought, while bringing to the light and acknowledging another users thoughts and recommendations on the hf marketplace.

How will you make sure that only the buyers are able to rate the thread? other wise What if competitors(or jealous people) rate negatively to ruin it?

I think it is the idea, but applying it to each thread and making it publicly visible.
I just wonder if people may have problems with threads that get necro'd or bumped and the user isn't active anymore.
I guess so you could leave a bad review on a product without negatively effecting credibility? Like maybe a scenario where you buy something from a vendor, and it does work as described, but it is really low quality? For situations like that, or like the necro situation.
That is what I imagining.

You know what would happen, right?
DemonAsylum and I would post, and then it would instantly become a high-quality, credible marketplace thread.
So things could get skewed really fast...
would be like facebook then don't know if that's so nice
Has a good idea, for one someone may be trustworthy deals on HF wise but may put out a sub-par product.
However, I would think that 1. Someone receiving vouches will make a vouch and reviews section
2. It’s always really the buyers position to do their own research. Maybe the person spending their last $20 shouldn’t be spending their last $20, but if they are I’d definitely do my best to know that I’m spending it in the right place by taking a few extra minutes to search through a thread.

Correct, but would only be for marketplace threads.. as these are threads that users are potentially spending money on, and the overall goal would be that said potential new customers will know how past customers felt about the product, without having to go thru all 10 threads. Customers would know that the numbers on the positive/neutral/negative ticker were true depictions of past customers, as only user who have created a contract with the seller, would be given the opportunity to leave a rating.

Only users who made a contract with the seller, would be able to leave a rating. They won't get the opportunity to leave the rating until after they have completed the contract.

This would be ratings for the product itself, and would be displayed on the OP. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Credibility isn't displayed on the OP but more is lodged in the users stats... alot of new users don't even know what the credibility system is. If you study some of the actions of new users who use the marketplace, you will see they dive right into the marketplace without ever taking the opportunity to read the rules, let alone about the credibility system.

Yes, it would be more or less to make easier for people to easily see how users felt about said product.. without having to dig into the users credibility ratings, or search thru 10 threads just to find out that not one person has left a vouch.

Yes, a user should always do their due diligence on a product they buy whether its on HF, or off HF. But let's be realistic, that doesn't happen. The overall goal would be to improve a user experience when buying on the marketplace. Return customers is always a good thing, no? If a user buys something, and they have a good experience, its a high probability they will return to buy something else, and possibly recommend the site and/or thread to a friend. If a user buys something, and the product isn't what it claimed to be, it's a good chance that user will leave the site and never come back, recommend to their friends to not purchase from the site, or possibly become a scammer/bad seller themselves so they can re coupe their money. The only positive that comes from selling products that don't deliver what they claim, is for the seller. But what good does it do for the buyer, and the forum overall?
Should they be spending their last $20 on a product on here? Probably not, but when there are threads that make someone feel they can earn back their money by spending their last $20... there are a lot that will go ahead and spend that last $20. It's been proven time and time again. There are a lot of threads in the marketplace that you could go thru all 10-20 pages, and still not learn anything about the product, as its filled with people asking questions and the answers either not getting answered, or the answers are being sent to the potential buyers PM.
The overall goal is for a more transparent marketplace. If a sellers product delivers what it claims, then they wouldn't have a problem with something that further proves their product is good. But if a seller is selling something that is hyped up, and will never deliver what it claims, then of course they would have a problem with a system like this.
