Dexter

Just watched all of Dexter over again and then watched Dexter: New Blood immediately after. I thought it was good. It was the right closure everyone needed as the first ending was awful.

They just announced recently they will be doing a Dexter: Origins about Dexter's younger years and a Dexter New Blood season 2 that will follow Harrison's dark passenger.

Just wondering if there's anyone else that has watched everything, what your view on that ending was, and how you feel about the upcoming spinoffs, are they overkill or should they keep it rolling?

I haven't watched the new one, but I actually have some relief reading this as I felt the same way!

I now have some inspiration to get into it eventually.
Ah, Dexter is a great show - haven't rewatched it in a while, but my fiance hasn't seen it yet. we tried, but she didn't pay enough attention in the start and it's a tough show to get into if you don't learn about the characters & relationships.

It's definitely worth it to watch that newest season they put out. They surprisingly did a very great job with it.

This is exactly why I just rewatched it all. My wife hadn't seen Dexter yet and I suggested we watch it. It was always one of my top ten favorite shows.

Definitely a good show - don't want to give away anything but always enjoyed his relationships with girls & juggling his work life and extracurriculars lol.
My whole family got into it when it came out so we would do family show night every week for it.

One of my most favorite series back then when everything was still stress free on my account. Finished the first series including books by Jeff Lindsay but I haven't watched New Blood, some says it awesome but some says its crap. Haven't watched it yet but planning once I am free.

I never knew they would also make an Origins. This would definitely be awesome! I still remember the time he killed his neighbor's dog then killed their own dog. 😆

You need to get the gang back together and watch new blood

I think they should do right by the show and in origins bring back Michael C Hall and cast him as teenage Dexter with the wig again.

I've heard Dexter is good and has good reviews but never really took the plunge into watching it. Is it something you have to seriously concentrate on or could i whack it on for background noise and half watch?
Thank you for the +rep / QL etc but I do not return these just because you have given them to me unless stated otherwise.
A little bit of both. At times, it's kind of subtle. Some times, it's very in your face. You should DEFINITELY watch it. It's about 7 seasons, and there's about 7-9 episodes per season [I hope lol haha].
I really liked the show back in the day, but I don't have the patience to rewatch it. People got so fucking mad at the end, but I thought it was actually decent. Like how do you want to the show to end? Something has to happen.

I'm not going to watch this new season. Would be kind of interesting to see how dirty secrets the dad has, but too late for me for it to get my interest.

Feels like any shows or movies these producers recycle somehow end up being worse than the original in recent years. Just reminded myself of the LOTR show...damn. At least the hobbit was solid.

do you think this is something that my fiance could enjoy without seeing the original series? Or is it really important to watch all before starting new blood?

Please don't get mad at me but damn I find Michael C Hall very funny when he is wearing the wig especially in those flashbacks during his first sloppy deed with the nurse who's giving his dad syringes. 😆

Bro what to you expect is a happy ending for a serial killer... I was satisfied with how things ended for exter earlier and found the new blood shit... I think they should have not continue with the sons journey... i am more invested in Dexter's character and its origins.

I'd prefer to watch it and concentrate, but if you are experienced in watching a series for background noise and can follow it that way then it's still a good enough show I'd recommend doing it.

The ending of the first series was odd, without spoiling it for others, it completely left the door open for a return and it's not like his urge just disappeared.

Nah, there's too many references to the original series.

It was so funny, he was obviously in his 40's and they thought it was okay just to slap a wig on him and fake pimples.

The original series had an ending that was voted worst of all time for a hit series.

Yeah on a broad spectrum you will find that it is worst overall... me not being a die heart fan of dexter still found it to be relatively good... most serial killer end up dead in real life end up in jail or sentenced to death... but if you consider the dexter the show makers did not end on that note which I liked.
