is it worth writing a backend in rust including session handling, db mng etc.. ? does that little extra sec worth the time for you?

I don't know enough about Rust to answer specifically about database & sessions, but I imagine it's more than capable of handling those. What are your skill levels like, and how much time are you planning on spending on this project?

IF AND ONLY IF.....
ELSE Use another appropriate language that would suffice your needs and your team as this could lead to chaos. ----------------- I would only recommend Rust to be used as a backend language, microservice or etc if you and your team can meet the 4 requirements I have mentioned because I know people (mostly teams) who have failed to impress using Rust but luckily I don't since I have already mastered the language and I keep on learning the latest trends. 😆 A good alternative would be to use is a general programming language which are easy to use and not hard to maintain that doesn't need compiling such as PHP, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or anything similar to these and the use of ORMs (if you are lazy to manage databases) and frameworks. Hahaha. Go ahead, learn Rust and use it as a backend. I would recommend Actix as I primarily use it. You can also use Rocket if you want everything out of the box. Those 2 are the only frameworks I use with Rust at the moment and for ORM manipulation, I also use Diesel with both frameworks. Rust indeed is a fun to learn language but the only downside is that it has a steep learning curve and it takes time to master unless you are the chosen one. 😎 |
