Gun violence has more with mentality and less with guns. The US has the strictest laws in the world and still, people go to life in prison as if they were buying cakes in a store.
I am from ex-Yugoslavia and to be honest high percentage of people still have illegal weapons like AK-s and hand grenades at home but still you won't see such violence in our countries. Murders are extremely rare. We do not have gangs but we do have mafias and they are quite in the shadow.
