I am reaching out to long-time & respected HF users, but figured it might be easier to get this started with a public thread.
A few users and I are going to be organizing an NFT collection that features HF groups and well known users.
The winners will be selected randomly in an NFT release thread, and which NFT they receive will be random too.
If you are interested in becoming an NFT, you would have a token minted with an image, title, and description supplied by you. The image could also just be your avatar if you want. The metadata will be hosted in IPFS and the tokens will be minted on an affordable L2 network like Polygon/MATIC. All costs paid by me, so the only thing you would need to do is agree to have an NFT created for you and then on the NFT drop date, that NFT is given to a random winner.

Would you want a collectible HF NFT for a famous user, or group?

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I'm considering myself (2021 signup) as too new to qualify for my own NFT collection
However if I don't get enough interest from older members then I may open it up to newer users.

One other cool thing would be if people did something special for the eventual NFT winner.
For example, 10% off on a bytes purchase, or 15% off a service, or 500 free bytes to the token winner.
I'm not going to make that mandatory, but the end goal is that the NFTs have nostalgic value AND hopefully some monetary value too. Adding some sort of perk to your personal NFT makes it more valuable than others :)
Also worth mentioning:
- all NFTs will be compatible with big wallets (to see NFT/image in your wallet portfolio) as well as OpenSea and similar marketplaces
- ERC721 tokens w/ IPFS token uri
- in an ideal world these NFTs hold a value and are traded/sold in future, on or off HF
- even if each NFT is worth $0 on a marketplace, it can still hold value for us here on HF - memories & respect to OG/well known members & groups :)
Free NFT of yourself (avatar, selfie if you wish, etc..) / free to participate / and it benefits the HF community since whoever wins will then have a minted NFT ready to sell should they choose to do so?

Yes! No cost to you, just submit a title/description/image to me and I'll add to the spreadsheet. Can always change your mind if you send info before final NFT minting / release.
But yes - I think it should be a fun event and yeah, because they're all ERC721 they're compatible with marketplaces (like Opensea) they could be sold by the winner :)
