I am pretty sure that most people on HF have seen some fucked up shit online.

I remember there was websites like fuckingshocking and efukt where there was absolutely messed up gore videos and more, but I am pretty sure that they are gone now.

Which websites did you use to use? And do websites like this even still exist or has it been purged from online?

That was the point of shock sites, they were meant to shock the user.

Back in the day there was so much fucked up shit. No one ever really wanted to see it, it just appeared in front of you and by the time you realise what the hell you just saw, you already viewed it.

From Pain Olympics, to Two Guys on Hammer, the level of depravity was unavoidable back on the old net..

Sometimes you'd download shit on P2P apps like skateboarding vids and be greeted with the most horrendous shit (if not infectious).

E.g. Justin Timberlake videos somehow got associated with 9-11 shock videos.. the most fucked up video being the "it's raining men" dub...

I think the last question of the OP was just to trigger a conversation about censorship and the advancement of online systems to filter out the filth.

But overall, I don't know about you, or OP, but I am most definitely grateful to not stumble upon such things as frequently (I don't use social media so I also skip all that easily).

Really the internet is so different now, however at the cost of freedom of speech.

I remember when I was kid that some mates used to go to websites like that, I've never understood why and I still don't understand why people need to see these videos, I sincerely think that people have to be a bit crazy to take the initiative to view that kind of content and enjoy it or laugh at it.
