I'm sure we've all seen when trick-or-treating the houses where the people either aren't home or just don't want to deal with coming to the door over and over so just leave a bowl outside filled with candy as well as usually while accompanied by a sign that says "only take 1" or something along those lines.
Be honest, when it came to these situations, how much candy were you actually taking from these? For me, I recall usually abiding by it though with often many others around including parents of kids, you sort of had to. There were definitely a few times where I took a handful for instance though. Nothing crazy like taking half the bowl or something though lol.
One piece unless otherwise instructed. Even if it's my favorite candy. Taught my kids that too. Show respect.
Like Omni said. It wasn't common when I was growing up, maybe 2 or 3 houses would do it and we would take 1 or 2 pieces. We do the candy bowl now and my wife makes a bunch of goody bags with sweets and toys in them.

Couldn't agree more. I know it's such a minor thing in hindsight, but it's nice looking back and knowing I wasn't one of those kids that took a fuck ton which in turn meant a lot less to go around for others. Like I said in the first post, there were a few times where I took a handful, maybe 4-5 versus the 1-2 I was supposed to limit myself to, but I'd like to think that was a matter of stupid shit like peer pressure and what not. It's not the kind of kid that I was in general to do something like that. Regardless, we were just kids anyway and what matters is what we know is right/wrong now as well as what we instill onto others now.

I really don’t understand what people think is honestly going to happen haha. The least you could do is sit outside if you want to ensure the everlasting safety of some goddamn candy man hahaha

Yeah it's inevitable that some kids will at the very least take more than 1 despite being instructed to only take 1. I'm still glad there are people that put the candy out despite surely knowing that though. They're just sort of left to hope that either it doesn't happen somehow or that if it does happen, it's not too much or it's with as many other kids getting candy as possible too.

I get that. And, I might very well be an asshole for doing it hahaha but at least I am honest about it lmfao. I love candy man; that isn’t a crime hahaha

Like I told Omni, at the end of the day, we were just kids you know? Even for some that did take more than they should, it didn't necessarily represent how they were brought up or what kind of kid they were overall either. Regardless, it's all about how we are now as adults and what we instill onto others.

Exactly, kids will be kids and that is just how it is. It doesn’t mean that kid is gonna grow up to be a thief!

Indeed. Doesn't mean they're a "bad" kid outside of that act or even more so that they're going to grow up and be a thief like you said for instance. Though there were of course also some kids that took a ton from the bowl or even the whole bowl that were in fact generally just asshole kids haha. Lets just hope they grew out of it 😆

Hope and pray, I feel like this generation is going down hill asap. Also, 90% on lounge head
Let me grab a couple and leave the rest for the other kids on the block.
I would always take a handful, I don't get how people can dump the entire bowl into their bags like that.
