I've read that one of the uses of a bot net is to rent it out to send mass spam, but I've never been able to find where to purchase such services. Could someone point me in the right direction please?

But, after your post, I am sure you will be contacted by one of those people in PM to offer you a solution. Word of mouth.
You might check on the Dark Web, I know that you can purchase these type of services from off of there. But please be careful, and do your due diligence, as there are many scammers that are just looking to make some money off someone looking to purchase something.. and considering most of these deals are done via Crypto.. once you send that money, you won't be getting it back.. so shop smartly!
