For those who don’t know, he was the founder of Silk Road. Bitcoin became really popular because of this website back in the early days. He was sentenced to life in the feds until Trump pardoned him today.
Hopefully more popular crypto figures will get pardoned. Changpeng Zhao deserves one, so he can run Binance again.
Finally, I was little skeptic they would not pardon him.
A few wallets will wake up after this, and there will be a small sell pressure but he'll most likely HODL until 200-250k.
I dont know man, how is it different if you controll drugmarket place online than if you do it irl?
He might not have been a seller but he made it possible for other people to sell drugs and also made a hughe amount of money, so in my mind he is no different than the sellers or druglords on the street
I've watched countless documentries about The Silk Road and Ross himself.
I'd love to watch/read about all the different things that have been mentioned in these documentrys about Ross from his own perspective, his version of the different event's that happened leading up to his arrest, including his time behind bards.

I guess we could expect some book made by him.
I may be dumb but I don't understand why would anyone support his release?
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
What does he still own? Houses, apartments, cars, money, juwelery? I know who he is, but if he made his cash via the silk road, then they probably seized it all right?

Who knows, maybe jimmy zhong has a stash ready bc or him. How sweet would it be for both of them to meet up in person.
I really doubt Ross has hidden Bitcoin. He got nabbed with his computer open. Sent to prison for life. The funny thing is that if he does have Bitcoin because of Statute of Limitations they should be clean to spend. They can't charge him with new crimes for them. And since he got a pardon the Bitcoin isn't technically from crime. I didn't really word that eloquently but you know what I mean. That if he has Bitcoin stashed, he doesn't really have to hide it.

I would imagine judging from the details of his case and his opsec and such he probably didn't have any hidden stashes. Whatever the feds retrieved is probably what existed. Ross was arrested in 2013. Kinda infant days of BTC. People are much smarter nowadays, and I'm not saying Ross was a total retard but he was no super genius either. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a lot of his coins on some hot wallet connected to the website that coins already got seized from and he had 0 in cold storage.
I do respect Trump for actually commuting him, as far as I know it was just a comment he made at some libertarian conference, it's not like it was some HUGE campaign promise of his, but on the same token I'm not sure what the argument for it is, ESPECIALLY from a guy who goes on about the opiate epidemic in the US and the border crisis. Like.. Ross did do what he did lol, he was rightfully found guilty, it's very incongruent BUT Trump said he'd do it, and he did, so from that standpoint I respect it, he could've easily just not done it and really lost no support.

I think the sentencing was over the top. When people are used as an example the DoJ often wants the harshest penalty. That's very unfair to be THAT GUY who is the example. Ross already served 11 years without any actual victim.

I mean he was facilitating an /insane/ amount of drugs being sold? Personally I'm pretty radical when it comes to drugs, I'm more decriminalization for most and think people should be allowed to be adults about them, decide what they want to intake and if it was regulated I think it would ultimately lead to less overdoses.
But Trump, someone who's signaled being fond of death sentences for drug smugglers.. Ross was essentially a MASSIVE drug smuggler? There's close to 0 chance that in one way or another /something/ he facilitated the sale of on his website led to someones death? And there's even, albeit, questionable evidence that he was trying to have hits put out on people, but its fair to discredit when the person talking to Dread Pirate Roberts was a DEA agent who was later charged with embezzlement, and Ross was ultimately not found guilty of these charges.
I'm just saying by running Silk Road Ross was essentially facilitating and being a MASSIVE drug dealer, even if he was just a hands off middle man, he provided the platform, this seems not at all in alignment with other statements Trump, JD Vance, and Republicans in general would make in regards to drugs.

That's mainly because he did Escrow on-site. It's why I refuse to do it. It made him a fortune but it cost him dearly.
Ross was not a drug smuggler either. He was just the middle-man in deals.

I get what you mean. I'm just saying his hands aren't clean. He profited off the sale of hard drugs which were then sold to people. It'd be much more likely that in one way or another, because of the website he was facilitating, someone purchased and bought a drug that led to them overdosing, then it would be to believe that out of ALL the sales done on Silkroad every single sale led to someone consuming a drug with no consequence.
To me the fact it's being done over the internet doesn't make him any more innocent. If I was facilitating quite literally thousands of drug deals in real life, through whatever mechanism, which led to the sale of insane amounts of heroin, cocaine, meth, pills I don't think people would be shouting free Kaleb he did nothing wrong. Or saying I had the DOJ weaponized against me. I think they'd be like well yeah he was a drug lord and that's what happens.
