Second Report Button

Typed from mobile so bear with me.

Suggesting a 2nd report button for Uber.

Since Omni implemented the ability for Uber to report posts and get them junked from new account scammers that join, I’ve noticed this a few times. Someone not uber will report the post and then I don’t have the ability to use my uber magic to make it disappear.

If there was a second button, even if someone not uber reported it, Ubers could trump that report and make the thread not viewable. Which makes it less likely a new member will click on it and get scammed.

If not a second button, the ability for an uber to report an already reported thread would also work.

I feel like it would be abused, probably would be lets not lie here, I'm not sure how mentor group works now but I know when Adam was a mentor his script if any user reported it, it would give them a notification to alert them about the post.

Also not much point in reporting a post twice as it'll be somewhat spam.

I doubt it would be abused since Omni implemented the system where Ubers could report, get the thread junked, and limit the user over a year ago and it’s still running which makes me assume it’s working.

But I agree it would be a double report.

Ub3rs can only report 48 hours after a post is made though?
There's enough mentards to handle this sort of stuff, is this really an issue?

I think that timeline is solid.

The whole reporting thing and junking a thread is just an interim between us junking the thread and staff being online to deal with it appropriately.

I don’t think there will be a time where we would need to report it past 48 hours. These threads are usually dealt with an hour after they’re posted.

But if someone posts a scam thread at 0200 and someone not uber reports it, it can’t be junked until staff is online to investigate.

No rewards for reporting though

If the report was made by an Uber instead of a not Uber the thread is junked and the user who made the thread is limited until staff can intervene.

If someone who isn’t uber reports, nothing happens.

I'm confused. Since when can Ub3r members junk another members post? I know we can junk our own posts, but not others, we're not Mentors?

I just tested it to see if I'm crazy, went to a brand new members first thread and there's only the normal report options. Unsure of what you mean by "regular member report" and "Ub3r report" -- unless the whole point of this thread is a suggestion that Ub3r members have a second report button that acts as a "stronger report" for lack of a better term, because it came from an Ub3r? I have this right? Or?

Also, in terms of Ub3r's "trumping" regular member reports or even L33ts, this would lead to abuse in my opinion. Everyone has friend groups, cliques, etc.., and we all know what happens when one gets mad at another. This would just be another fuel source for that potential fire if you ask me. I understand that there's a fee to upgrade to Ub3r, but that doesn't mean we should be entrusted with essentially Mentor level permissions.

Giving all Ub3r members the power to limit users would be too far. Anyone can upgrade to Ub3r, meaning going off your suggestion, basically anyone can buy "junk permissions for other users posts". Way too much potential for abuse in my opinion.

I suppose this is where the role of Mentors come into play, to fill in that gap between hours.

It sounds like a solution would be to remove the ability of Non-Ub3r to even Report posts.

Would help clean up those threads where OP hasn't signed in for 2 years and their download link is dead so it's just pages of 1 post accounts spamming "bro plzz send me the link ty bro"

Spoiler (Click to View)

Or if it's cool to just make a post noting same and report it, that works for me. I just feel like we are doing newer members a service by keeping actual 'active' threads at the top of the boards.

I think I'd extend the 48 hours to 72 hours. :)

If you have something you think is important for the site to be closed. Just send any one of the Staff or myself a contact (PM or Convo).

A valid, simpler option I didn’t think of.

Sounds solid.
