Beginner questions Whonix & Tor

I use Qubes-Whonix, and I have a few questions regarding anonymity and security.

1 - Is there any difference in anonymity, privacy, or security when accessing an onion site compared to a clearnet site? As far as I know, when accessing an onion site, TOR uses six hops, and 5/6ths of the path don't know the user or destination. On the other hand, when accessing a clearnet site, the connection uses three relays, where two of them don't know the user or destination. Therefore, accessing the clearnet through TOR is more traceable. Am I right? If so, is it something to worry about, especially given that I use Qubes-Whonix?

2 - Are there any real advantages to using obfs4, FTE, Snowflake, Meek, or any type of pluggable transport, bridges, tunnels, etc? Or is using a VPN the safest option? My country doesn't block TOR.

3 - I have read that to avoid standing out, I shouldn't install any add-ons, just configure TOR in the safest way possible. How true is this? I have read wonderful things about uMatrix, for example. Is it okay if I use it? Is it even useful?

5 - I would like to access some clearnet services such as news sites, Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, etc., while maintaining my privacy and anonymity. Any suggestions on how I should do it, do's and don'ts?

Thank you in advance
Tor is better than a VPN, even a double-hop VPN. If you're super paranoid, there are VPNS that route over Tor.

Thanks, but i guess that obviously using a vpn that route over Tor will be safer and more untraceable, right?

Im still not sure about the following, when accessing a clearnet site, the connection uses three relays, where two of them don't know the user or destination. Therefore, accessing the clearnet through TOR is more traceable. Am I right? If so, is it something to worry about, especially given that I use Qubes-Whonix?

Well, onion sites need to hide their own connections. Clearweb sites do not. Using a VPN and a proxy that you connect to over localhost is a little funky. There are different opinions on this.

Yeah i agree with the video, but maybe if you just using tor + vpn, but you only acess clearnet websites, you should go unnoticed.

One more question, what about connecting a vpn on the windows or making a proxychain, before accessing the virtual machine from Whonix, would that still count on what the video says? and which one will be safer? Just VPN or a proxychain, could be possible to combine VPN + Proxychain at the same time?

Thanks in advance

Welcome agent. From which police department u are ?

TOR is trackable very very very very easy, i believe this poster is from police since i can't see any more reason to put this lie on forum where everyone can see and i have no idea how u are not reported or at least make joke of.

Please do your own research guys, there is full internet all news outlets etc etc that TOR users gets tracked down by police in minutes. [ not even hours ]

Tor do not protect u in any case, its just hide your ip.
It is not meant to do any illegal activity, maybe that was a case 25 years ago when proxy chain was able to hide your identity.

And please do not listen that other advice that use VPN which route traffic throw TOR. [ That must be super LQ vpn ]
Since it can cause u a lot of danger there things called "Tor Exit Nodes", "timing analyses" etc etc
Germany IT police is abusing this, they have ten thousands tor exit nodes which u can connect by accident and they can see all your browser history etc etc etc.

Please do your reesarch and dont listen to this guy, this guy seems like professional shit poster. I can't believe what he wrote here i will post everywhere as proof to ban him, since he is danger for community as i can see.

TOR users was tracked down in easy whos doesn't use VPN already like 10 years without problems.
2022-2024 they started to track down in easy even those whos use VPN and TOR using "Tor Exit Nodes", "timing analyses" and thousands other methods.
Such as D.A.I.T.A to identify and = data sizes of what vpn ask/give and your real ip ask/give etc etc.
Far as i know only Mullvad VPN have D.A.I.T.A protection.

2025 they made everything faster 1000x because of AI brains and AI tools. [ So that opens doors to catch smaller criminals without any invest ]

I'm well aware that LE runs Tor nodes. Obviously, you should be careful about not leaving tracks. Plenty of people still recommend it, so I don't see why you're throwing shade, except for my past criticisms. Are you really serious?

And your recommendation is to use TOR rather then Mullvad VPN.

And your second recommendation is to use VPN with integrated TOR.

Both recommendations is very very LQ and looks like a trap for new criminals to be caught.
