Now I can’t even look at what other people posted on there no more
If it even starts back up, it'll be a clean slate. Pretty sure they wiped everything.

Yah I’m pretty sure as well and it might be a complete end for 4chan but something is telling me that another platform just like it has some type of rival with them and that maybe some rival platform like that targeted them but that’s just my speculation and not the case.
I don't think that this will be the end of 4chan. It's been around for ages now.

What makes you think they don't do backups regularly? For instance if HF gets deleted by a hacker, then we're back online in probably 2-3 days without more than than 24 hours of loss in most cases.

Maybe they did. I'm just speculating and what I am reading. I assumed deepest access and deletion by the hacker included the back ups.
Who knows, maybe the had some external back ups. I also don't host websites, so I could just sound like an idiot.

If you're smart about your backups, you can ensure they can't be touched even if the server is rooted. You make the backups off-server. Then on the backup server you move the file and lock it from access. This way they'll have to not only compromise your server, but the backup system as well. Most will never bother. They usually get in and within a day or two wreak havoc. Not a lot of reason to wait a year to mess around with 4chan. If it was a financial system and had things like crypto, bank accounts, or credit card data...that's reasons to be stealthy. But otherwise, they just wanted to disrespect them.
