Where should we draw the legal and ethical lines at with this new advancement in Ai?
Is there even a way to limit something like that legally?
If enough petitions came about, what would that do?
Nothing is being done because its about money and legally it always falls behind in the case of not only Technology but many other fields typically by decades out outdated laws needing changed. Nothing what so ever was done after meta took the books done we mere mortals get fined or sent to prison over.
Its about money AI is the new fancy kid on the block, Look at various growth in the global markets overall.

Focus on Nude Image Generation from clothed people, They imprison the people doing it yet the technology can't be stopped overall as another example.
Overall nothing is being done again because money and AI overall is a very useful tool that as of yet does not replace nor will fully replace anything as someone will still need to view the output.
