Yeah, if someone is doxing members and making threats then that's a different story.
I left wording about threatening members. But that's probably gonna have to get removed. Someone is gonna tell me that their threats aren't threatening the same way their harassing wasn't harassing.
I should just rewrite HF rules again. Try to eliminate as many as I can.
EDIT: Also reminds me to remove the Report Reason and the Warning Level. Now done.
18 years of single-handedly managing the forum and the community. No doubt you're tired. You have been doing an Amazing job, Omni.
We're proud of you.
Just give yourself a break. maybe ban those annoying retards giving you a hard time and be done with it.
Rules updated further....
Rules and Etiquette
Hack Forum Rules
1. No direct links to infected downloads in posts or profiles.
2. No posting of personal information that isn't yours. Privacy is to be respected here. This includes any passwords, logins or dumps.
3. No adult images or links to adult websites.
4. One active HF account is allowed. Multiple accounts are not permitted unless reporting a hacked account or rejoining due to account closure for inactivity. Ban evasion will result in permanent closure of all accounts. No exceptions.
5. Advertising of competing sites is not allowed. This includes any website with a hacker forum similar to HF in structure or purpose. Advertising includes signatures, PMs, profiles, and posts.
6. No posting of fake programs.
7. No threads or posts for donation begging. This includes loan requests or asking for investors.
8. You must read and follow any additional rules posted in individual forum headers and in the profile policies and rules help doc.
9. Marketplace-style threads must be posted only in the Marketplace category under the Market tab. All Marketplace rules and policies must be followed. The Marketplace Discussions forum and its subforums are not intended for active sales or services.
10. Off-site contact methods (e.g., email, Discord, Telegram) are not allowed to be posted by non-upgraded members. Only members in the Vendor group may advertise or post Discord channels.
11. The Disallowed Blackhat Activity list must be followed. These activities are restricted.
Trying to make them as basic as possible. No policy against threats, flaming, or harassment.
Of course please not that I'm not gonna tolerate any Sales Trashing. On HF that's a Golden Rule.

Sucks, but it is what it is. I think the latter could stay. Isn't the warning levels overlooked by Mentors?
I dont support this but its your forum afterall and your free to do what you like

Why didn’t you leave enforcement of harassment policies to your staff and focus on development yourself? You’ve got three team members — shouldn’t they be handling that kind of behavior so you don’t have to deal with the petty drama?
Normally that's exactly how it goes. I'm in Convo a lot during the day. I don't like ignoring my own policies. I'd rather get rid of a policy than just ignore violations. I'm getting push-back from members who think they know the rules I created better than me. So it's either indeed my policies are bad or they aren't clear enough. Both cases force me the evaluate and that's fine. Rules do need to be adjusted time to time. HF started I believe with just 3 rules. One of them was about being nice to each other.
I wish I could get rid of all rules. To me that's a good forum. Where basically most of the sites policies are enforced through coding. Could be a day when AI will moderate all new posts.

You're describing Terminator SkyNet 😂
Hackforums turning into the wild, wild, west I see 😥
Quote:It’s your forum and your rules, no doubt. But removing the harassment policy feels like a step backwards for HF. It’s probably not going to help the quality long term — especially for new users who come in and see people being insulted freely. Personally, that kind of atmosphere would turn me away from a forum. That’s the sort of stuff you see on every other shady forum out there — and it just feels toxic and off-putting
I completely agree. I'm going to step up better anti-harassment features to counter the removal of the policy. Example would be those on your ignore list won't show their Convo messages even in Group Convo. I know someone created a script for that but I can do it better on my end. Another example might be disallowing a person on your ignore list from posting in a thread you created. However that may have to have Marketplace exemption because I don't want it abused by sellers to get rid of legit replies to a thread.
For every action there is a reaction. Just because I got rid of the policy doesn't mean I can't do more to stop harassment. In the end code solves more problems than human moderation.

Again, I'd hate to see people freely calling people all sorts of shit on the forum, it would make me feel like I'm browsing Nulled or one of the other seized forums. 😆
And there is always Word Filters as well. Those can be an effective tool.
I posted a thread on Reddit for my sciatica, when I mentioned key words or the like (type of medication) it deleted the post automatically
Perhaps integrating something of the like if it’s a strenuous issue.
I agree with the rule though, it’s an online forum.
If you’re getting “harassed” or “bullied” simply ignore the post? I don’t see how virtual shit can really affect someone.
Not calling anyone a softie or whatever “polite” term needs to be used, but grow up.
Unless like another member mentioned you’re getting DOX’d or real life attacked; relax and calm your nerves weirdo.
Keep up the work, and don’t burn yourself out.

I have successfully self-banned myself from the group Convo. For now only going to use it to add features (testing). Otherwise I'm just gonna stay away from it. I don't need to socialize with members.
I've been waiting quite some time for this to change. Now I can call out Nachfolger for making a slightly above average Chicken Parmesan.
Omniscient having another manic episode I suspect. DWC DWC DWC!
