The $100 min buy is to get the bonus award. You can do it with 1 $100 card or you can get 4 $25 cards but in a single invoice you have to buy at least $100 worth.

Haven't scratched mine yet, just bought them and put them in the safe for when I need more bytes. I do remember seeing someone win the 1m bytes on the last BOGO sale.. so definitely possible.
