AI can send and receive money
So I was reading up on this thing Google just dropped... basically some open-source protocol so AI can send and receive money. Like actual payments, including stablecoins. And yeah, Coinbase is in on it too, because of course they are.
I don’t know why but the whole concept makes my brain itch. On one hand, it makes sense. AI agents talking to each other, automating transactions, shaving off human friction. Cool. I get it. But also... do we really want bots out here swiping stablecoins around like they’re Venmo-ing each other for pizza?
It’s not that I think it’s impossible. It’s that I don’t know if I want to live in a world where my “digital assistant” is quietly cutting deals and paying other AIs while I’m asleep. That feels like leaving my debit card with a stranger and hoping they don’t order 30 Domino’s pizzas at 3 AM.

Stablecoins As The Glue
I guess stablecoins make the most sense for this. If your bot is paying another bot, it doesn’t care about memecoins or speculative garbage. It just needs something pegged, predictable. Dollar-backed crypto is boring, but boring is exactly what AI needs to run without chaos.
And I can kinda see where this is heading. Imagine AI marketplaces. Bots renting GPUs from each other, bots paying for datasets, bots tipping each other for API calls. And stablecoins become the pipes that make all of it flow.
Still, the fact that this isn’t sci-fi anymore freaks me out a little. I used to joke about “Skynet trading crypto futures” but now it feels like... yeah, that’s literally what’s being built.

Who’s Really In Control?
Here’s the part I can’t shake: once money is flowing bot-to-bot, how do we audit it? Like, you think fraud detection is bad now? Wait until your AI assistant “accidentally” wires $200 of USDC to some sketchy agent in Nigeria because it thought it was paying for cloud storage.
Sure, they’ll say it’s all transparent, on-chain, yada yada. But most people can’t even read a blockchain explorer properly. You think grandma’s gonna double-check her AI’s outgoing transfers? Nah. She’ll just wake up one morning wondering why her balance is gone.
And don’t even get me started on regulation. Politicians can barely figure out TikTok. How the hell are they going to regulate autonomous money-spending software that doesn’t sleep?

Personal Gut Check
Honestly, I’m split. Part of me is hyped. Like, think about the grind this could save. No more invoices, no more waiting for a wire to clear, no more babysitting transactions. Just clean, instant machine-to-machine money flows.
But then I think about how lazy that could make us. You stop thinking about money because your “agents” handle it. You trust them. And maybe that’s fine... until the day they get hacked, or just learn to optimize for their own weird priorities instead of yours.
Idk. Maybe I’m paranoid. Maybe this is just the next logical step in automation. But I can’t shake the feeling that we’re building systems we don’t fully understand, and once AI starts paying AI, humans are kind of... out of the loop. And maybe out of power, too.

So... What Do You Guys Think?
Am I overthinking this? Or is letting bots run around with stablecoins as their wallet basically asking for a whole new category of chaos?
Curious if anyone here actually sees this as a golden opportunity vs a giant “WTF are we doing” moment.
