How do I install extra software on TAILs and keep it in the Persistence Partition? TG

What the title says, let's say Telegram for example, as that's one of the ones I would like to be able to do it with. I don't want to have to redownload it every time I boot TAILs, and I couldn't figure it out even before how to get it installed in the first place.

Anyone have a solution for this?

That's... not even remotely what I was asking about. I've setup TAILs with persistence enabled many a times. My issue is A) Downloading Telegram for Linux and B) Having its data persist.

I don't need a noob guide on how to create a bootable usb. I need specifically Telegram

I don’t have the answer off the top of my head. But why persistence? Kind of defeats the whole purpose of TAILS.

Looks like you just tick the box for additional software

I'd really love someone who has done it to reply. I know you can just tick a box allowing additional software. I tried and couldn't figure out how to get Telegram installed on TAILs (Maybe any linux idk) as well as keep it in persistence.

Why wouldn't I want it in persistence? The whole purpose of TAILs is that when you pull the USB it leaves no trace of anything on the computer. You still want to have Keys, coins, and other things saved on the TAILs profile. But even though it stays on TAILs, it still doesnt leave a trace on the host computer. Hence the amnesiac OS.

Thanks anyways

The purpose of TAILS is to leave nothing at all… Persistence defeats the purpose of TAILS. The reason why you’ll find it hard to find someone who has actually done it is that it’s very very niche and not really what TAILS is designed for.

TG also isn’t secure communication. Common known secret that TG has been pwned for years. Kind of defeats TAILS as well. No point in a secure OS if your communication is the failure point.

Does TG stay installed and you just have to login? You said you know you can tick the additional software box then you say you can’t figure out how to install TG on TAILS. So is it not in the package repos for TAILS?

TG won't be used for communicating with anyone so it's all good. No it's not in the package repo for TAILs. Persistence does not defeat the purpose of TAILs. Once again the point is that it is an Amnesiac Live system - so when you pull the USB or shut down it doesn't leave any trace of what you did on the computer. Your flash drive returns to a blank slate + encrypted persistence partition.

I'm fairly sure it's recommended against installing things not in TAILs repo which is why I'm seeking help. I know it's not what it's for, and normally I wouldn't. Just research for a niche use case, like you said
