Learning about Botnets, DDoS etc. / Small Botnet / DDoS Tool

Hello Guys

I wanted to ask what's the first thing to start with when trying to learn
about DDoSing, Botnets, Payloads etc.

I've just tested UFONet a bit, most of the stuff is offline tho.

I'm also searching for similar stuff like UFONet but some that works, like
has some active bots (doesn't need many), so i can stress-test some of my own servers.

Many thanks.
A successful botnet requires a robust propagation method to recruit a substantial number of compromised machines. By focusing on this, you can create a stable network capable of sustaining a high volume of zombies before initiating a stress attack.

I've been in the DDoS community for a long time, I'm always happy to share information or answer any questions related to this sort of thing, feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions.
I would also like to learn about this topic. In fact, in a course, I was asked to create a botnet in a controlled environment.

they want botnet typical like a c2 that control infected device only to run attack or they want more?

Most of all, I need help learning because I need to explain the server code and the agent that infects computers. It's a university assignment:

ART I. Practical Part. Value 35 points. Read the instructions carefully and
complete the following tasks.

Students must conduct practical research on a
remote administration client-server system in a controlled and authorized environment.
The server will run on Ubuntu Server on Amazon AWS and
will receive reverse connections from multiple agents installed on test computers.
The focus is on securely managing many concurrent connections,
sending pre-approved instructions, and collecting results. Students
must conduct tests with multiple agents connected at the same time and
demonstrate the system working in class on the day of the presentation. To observe
behavior, they can measure connections and resource usage with netdata or
similar tools, only against course practice services and with
explicit consent.

1. Students must implement the server with a console menu that manages all active connections and allows them to request controlled load tests against a web service running on another Amazon server managed by the same student, and record metrics on the target side. (20 pts)

2. Students must develop agent software that, when
run on each test computer, establishes a secure connection to the
server and waits for instructions. (20 pts).

3. Students must enable the server to send pre-approved and secure commands to all agents. (15 pts).

I leave you with the following diagram

┌──────────────────────────────┐
│ AWS / Cloud │
│ ┌──────────────┐ ┌───────┐ │

I am creating the diagram in plain text because it does not allow me to share a link.

The professor's idea is that on the day I present this attack, I will pass a file to my classmates and each computer in the lab will open it to gain access and control from the attacking server and be able to launch a DDoS attack on the victim server.
Any botnet panel recommendations?
