Question about contract violations

Should I report someone who sent me a message stating that he/she was communicating on Telegram specifically to avoid using a contract?
If a member on here is intentionally avoiding contracts then yes report it. They can be closed for this.

Don't fall for a scam, use a middleman!

:( sad to hear this... Contracts protect the seller & the buyer, there's no reason not to use one for specific agreements in my opinion
If they are the seller, absolutely let me know.
If I knew this person's HF username, I would.

The most likely reason is that they want to scam.

Yeah, it's sad :(

It's good to have accountability and clear terms for everyone to agree to. I don't do anything without a legal agreement i can enforce IRL, so I can't imagine wanting to buy or sell without a contract. I have bought without one, but I wouldn't want to sell much of anything without something official that I can clearly point to if there's ever a disagreement.

But yeah.... unfortunately that's the case w/ some people. They don't agree with my philosophy on this lol

^ edit: I think this is being misinterpreted as a statement about HF contracts. I'm saying in general, like real world contracts, I don't do anything without a legal contract, like a legally binding contract, and that I have bought IRL (unrelated to HF) without signed agreements, but would never sell anything without a legally binding contract.

HF members aren't supposed to buy without one either. I'm sure you won't you are a great member and an asset to the forum.

I meant in general, but good to know that this is a more official rule. I'll re-review, I must have missed an update. I've always held true to the rule that vendors need to offer contracts.

Where can I find the rules for buyers needing one? I was under the impression that if a seller is offering a contract, a buyer can move forward without one, but that's at their own risk, whereas a user cannot try to circumvent the contract system when one person is requesting one.

I'm a fan of contracts, everyone should be forced to use one 100% of the time.

Can't remember the last time I actually bought something to be honest, assuming bytes a year or two ago

From the Help Documents- "ALWAYS use Contracts! Contracts are there for your safety, as well as the rest of the Hack Forums community. Use them to make sure everything is well documented in the event you need to dispute the deal."

It does not specify being only about sellers or buyers. It's in the section titled "Marketplace Safe Trading."

Omni has really laid it down. Contracts are not optional. It's not enough for sellers to just offer contracts. Yeah, I've dealt with newbies who probably haven't read the rules and just want to communicate on Telegram and send crypto without going through any process. And I haven't necessarily wanted to put my foot down and tell them to go back to HF and follow the rules. This 'Real' user, however, overtly asked if I knew specific channels where he could buy what he wanted. I gave a few suggestions, got him to admit to not wanting contracts, and haven't heard anything since.

Thanks for clarifying this, it'll be even easier to help keep people safe here... The amount of buyers in marketplace w/o a contract....
I'll start reporting them when I see them

I wasn't saying I am buying or selling without a contract, I haven't bought or sold anything in ages lol
Glad I re-read though, don't want to f that up if I decide to buy anything in future

That's good, as it should be. I think I know who you're talking about, some people just have alternative ideas for how things should be done, but looks like that person was warned

Yeah if someone wants to go off-site I would just ignore them tbh. Only sketchy people can't do it on HF
