I gave AI a budget to find and purchase the best Black Friday deals

Every year I tell myself I'm not getting dragged into the Black Friday circus. And every year I end upwith 40 tabs open, a headache and a huge shopping cart.

This time I said screw it, let AI/Comet do the work.

I loaded up some cash on PayPal, fired up Comet browser, and gave it full permission to scan the entire internet for deals: cameras, gadgets, home stuff, whatever looked good. Zero micromanaging. Full autonomy. "Use my money responsibly" (hahahahaha).

Comet went full hunter mode

After Black Friday kicked off, the magic started.

It started tearing through:
  • Amazon
  • AliExpress
  • Famous European and local electronics sites or site I've never heard of
  • Price histories
  • Stackable coupons
  • Shipping cost traps

It was awesome.

After some time, it dropped a curated list on my screen with the title:

"Optimized Purchase Strategy"

(yes, that's actually what it called it)

1. Action Camera
Reg: €329 - BF:
€179
Waterproof, 4K, comes with mounts I'll probably never use, great for my bike

2. Two bluetooth helmet intercoms
Reg: €149 each - BF:
€79 each
Total: €158
Much needed for group rides

3. Smart Home + Router Bundle
Reg: €279
- €129
Mesh network, smart plugs, the whole IoT surveillance package

4. Two Home Appliances
Robot vacuum: Reg: €399 -
€199
Air fryer (because of course): Reg: €129 → €59

Plus some bonus nonsense: USB-C cables, a portable battery pack, and other stuff the AI insisted would "complete the ecosystem." (~€76)

The AI didn't just find deals - it auto-completed the purchases.

The final receipt:

Code
Total retail value: €1,585
Total paid:         €600
Savings:            €985

Let me repeat that:

€985 saved while I sat on my desk doing absolutely nothing except watching it work.

The weird part is that the AI shopped better for me than I've shopped for myself in my entire life.
  • No panic purchases
  • No falling for fake "87% OFF" scams
  • No "LIGHTNING DEAL ENDS IN 4 SECONDS" psychological warfare

Just good calculations and a complete lack of emotional vulnerability.

Now let's see what it can do on Cyber Monday!

That's quite cool: "The AI didn't just find deals - it auto-completed the purchases"

I've never seen a AI do this! Which AI is this? And how did you achieve that?

I used "Comet" browser by Perplexity. I made sure I was logged in where I was needed, like emails for verifications, paypal account etc.

Their AI assistant is actually awesome. It takes control of the browser and you can see it working and filling up stuff.

It actually created a couple of accounts where needed, and went on my email to verify and login before purchasing. It was amazing to see, felt like "we're in the future" haha.

Of course your personal info goes bye bye, but what can you do.

"You have full access to my PayPal account for Black Friday shopping. You can use the whole available balance.

Your mission: Search through the entire internet for the best tech deals across all major and local [country mentioned] retailers.

Priority items I need:
- Action camera
- 2x Bluetooth helmet intercoms
- Smart home devices
- Home appliances (robot vacuum, air fryer, or similar - no fridges, ovens or heaters)
- Any high-value tech accessories that fit the budget

Requirements:
1. Cross-reference prices across multiple sites
2. Check price history to detect fake discounts
3. Stack coupons/promo codes where possible
4. Factor in shipping costs and delivery times
5. Verify seller reputation and return policies
7. Maximize value - prioritize legitimate discounts over marginal savings

Authorization level: You can auto-complete purchases on deals that meet these criteria:
- Item matches my specified needs
- Seller rating is ≥4.5 stars with substantial reviews
- Has Black Friday discounts

Create accounts where needed, verify through my personal gmail and if a website doesnt support paypal for payment, go to my lastpass vault and get the 715 card details.
Provide a detailed breakdown of what you bought, and total savings achieved.

Go."

It stopped a few times, but I was just writing "Continue" and it kept going - it never used the card I had as a backup plan (virtual revolut card with a limit so I wont get f'ed haha)

Its worth mentioning that I was already using Comet for a few weeks, it knew my history, my preferences and the AI already had context about me, so it might not work so smooth on a fresh install

That's very cool, I'm sure this is still "advanced" for the average person but boy do I see this being helpful for those who have trouble using computers.

Thanks for the good read man!
damn, sounds appealing to try :D
I wasn't even aware AI was capable of doing all of that. Did you have to approve the purchases before it checked out? Or did it have the green light to do everything from start to finish?

In the first one stopped but I said something like "Proceed and don't ask again to verify a payment" and it auto-completed the rest!

It's good for experimenting, just make sure it doesn't have access to all of your money!

Man, this thread is awesome, thanks for bringing and telling us things that many don’t know but are eager to learn, and if we rewind a bit to when you first heard about AI, did you think we would get to do this? In a very short time we’re going to be amazed even more by what’s coming with AI.
Magnificent thread mate. Thank you for the read.
