Hello everyone, ive been out of the Crypto game for while now and have decided to come back only for hobby and smaller things.
I was wondering where or what i should look for in a wallet. I used to use coinpayments.net but i went to log into an old account and it said that im not within their jurisdiction... i mean i knew that crypto changed since my absence but damn... Now there are certain sites we are allowed to purchase and retain crypto from. Not to mention taxes on crypto,.
I just dont want to break the law or anything but would like to get a wallet going again. Please any input on a wallet or a thread on how these jurisdictions are decided.
Thanks, looks like i got alot of learning to do
I would personally suggest Sparrow wallet. Download and verify with PGP before using. I use Kleopatra to verify.
However there are tonnes of good wallets. Exodus allows multiple coins with one seed phrase, customizable options (some coins), Electrum is good too.
Depends I guess what features you will be using, hardware wallet or not, and if you prefer barebones or a bit more control.
To me, Sparrow is king with hardware.

Pls give quick love to all my posts❤️
I will love u long time ❤️

Monero (XMR) Support? Which includes being able to swap other coins for Monero?
Cake Wallet is king, in my opinion.

What you're describing wouldn't generally be viewed as a wallet. Coinpayments is a platform for facilitating crypto payments, while they technically offer you a wallet to store your inbound payments, it'd be considered a custodial wallet that they have control over. You also wouldn't be able to connect this wallet to other websites to perform your own payments, you only have access to simple sends.
What you'd want is a non-custodial wallet, and the wallet that you want entirely depends on your needs.
1. Do you care about any specific crypto or do you want access to a wide variety of cryptos? If you have anything specific in mind, we can curate a suggestion for you rather than us blindly assuming what you may be interested in.
2. Do you want to use the wallet for storage purposes only, or do you also want the capability to utilize wallet connects with decentralized applications (such as defi protocols) where you wallet directly interacts with these apps? (They can spawn transactions for you to approve, you can directly deposit/withdraw/interact with singular clicks).

I would like a wide variety of crypto as i might invest little amounts into different ones however i will be focused on ETH or something similarly mainstream. Monero would be cool as well.
I will probably be just using it to retain and collect crypto not many transactions. More secure for the long run is what im hoping for.
Another question, would it be alright to say log into an old account on a vpn out of jurisdiction to recover the ETH i have on it? or should i use more precaution to try and get it off the wallet?

If you want to get into Ethereum to trade their various tokens and memecoins, or interact with DeFi, then I'd recommend Metamask.
If you want to get into Ethereum just to hold long term, then a slightly more user friendly experience would be Exodus, as recommended earlier.
Exodus is multi-chain and supports a wide variety of cryptos as well, so it'd be a good spot for you to start.

This is fine.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS MEMBER
Welcome back to the Crypto game!
When it comes to wallets I prefer MetaMask or Phantom Wallet.
If you are holding BTC then I would recommend a wallet like Electrum.
Make sure to properly back up your seed phrases and you'll be safe.
When it comes to taxes & such you'll want to consult with a licensed professional in your area.
