These were pretty big exchanges. I wonder if MiCA had a big effect on their licensing. What if Binance decides to cease operations one day? How would the market react to this?

BitMex are legends, produced tremendous research around BTC. They will be missed. Fuck Arthur Hayes though.
BitMart are also legends, but for more biased reasoning. When I emerged as a decently large player in the Sui ecosystem, they reached out and offered me a trading account at their best fee tier. No KYC, no hoops to jump through, just issue free trading. Orderbooks sucked there, so I rarely traded there, but whenever I wanted to make a trade and they had sufficient liquidity, it would emerge as my cheapest venue to buy crypto on.
Bitmex is closing? What the actual fuck it's over bros crash is coming
That is unfortunate. They were so popular.
I remember all the big traders were using BitMex back in the day lmao
I used it a few times myself, but was never huge into crypto at the time, more so focused on trading stocks... kinda regret not going deeper in crypto all those years ago lol

Bitmex would’ve survive if Arthur wasn’t such a greedy cunt. They were the kings before US charges + mandatory KYC drove the audience away.

Wait until Binance ceases operations. MexC, Kucoin, Poloniex as well. They don’t possess a MiCA license. EU base is a huge loss for them.
I honestly think Binance is next just because they had past scrutiny with the USA. Almost like with Bitmex. That shit never goes away, it’s like having a permanent criminal record
This certainty is very sad. These two sites were good.
Anyone applauding regulation needs their heads examined. The Clarity Act in America will produce similar closings.
Bitmex was one of the few exchanges I never bothered to join. Sad to see a legacy exchange go though.
IMHO, the future is swap sites and Monero.

BitMEX was primarily a derivatives platform, don't think they added spot until like 2022 or 2023, most of us normies never touched BitMEX I imagine.
Where BitMEX really shined was perps trading. They literally invented the concept of perpetual contracts. The first perp launched was XBTUSD introduced by Ben Relo in 2016 (Importantly not Arthur Hayes, we need to stop crediting him for perps).
