Chatwee Plugin By Omniscient
With Convo currently disabled following the recent server migration Omniscient is considering installing Chatwee plugin to serve as a temporary chat solution for the community. Because Convo requires a full rebuild this third party plugin could quickly fill the void for Convo. The outdated MyBB plugin has already been updated to support PHP 8 and Omniscient reassured members that this would strictly be a short term work around while an internal solution is finished. Would you use Chatwee in the meantime? Share your thoughts and feedback in the original thread.
Telegram Notification Bot By Omniscient
With Hack Forums web socket notification system currently offline following the server move Omniscient is rebuilding alerts as an independent PHP plugin and planning a major overhaul to how members receive site updates. The proposed system introduces optional browser/desktop push notifications alongside a dedicated Hack Forums Telegram bot allowing you to get instant alerts for PMs, thread replies, mentions, and quotes even when you don't have the site open. Both off site options will remain completely optional with a simple linking process that requires no sensitive account credentials. What features would you like to see integrated into the new alert system? Share your thoughts and feedback in the original thread.
We're Moved By Omniscient
Hack Forums has officially completed its migration over to the new server after days of preparation by Omniscient While the site is back online members should expect temporary bugs and display errors as PHP and MyBB issues are resolved. Socket features such as Convo and notifications are currently offline and are expected to return in a few days. Members do not need to report minor bugs as logs are being actively monitored, but any critical site breaking issues should be reported directly. Be sure to check the original thread for on going updates as the migration continues.
Convo Returning By Omniscient
After spending a few hours attempting to integrate the third party chat plugin Chatwee into the forum Omniscient confirmed that Hack Forums proprietary Convo system will officially be making its return. The brief trial with an external service underlined the unmatched value of having an in house solution that runs on Hack Forums servers, uses custom code, and allows complete flexibility for site specific features. While members will have to hang tight for a few weeks while the rebuild is carried out any doubts about Convo being permanently retired have been laid to rest. Are you glad to see Hack Forums stick with an in house chat? Share your thoughts and feedback in the original thread.

Apple wants to restrict AI agents on Macs
Apple's new approach to macOS permissions is getting interesting this week. AI agents increasingly need deep system access to accomplish tasks, but giving an AI unrestricted access to your filesystem is obviously dangerous. Apple is therefore changing how Full Disk Access works to make it harder for automated agents to obtain broad access.
