For those that were interested in the iPhone duo, it offiically launched this morning to allow pre order.
I am seeing the earliest you could get it was October 23rd but quickly moved to early December dates due to Apple not making large supply, and within reason since I am unsure if the demand is really even there for USA at least.
Who here is a fan of flip phones or the new Duo!?
I'm a fan of old flip phones, like from the early 2000, not the new ones which cost 2000$ haha, definitely too expensive for me, and I doubt I would get any interest into it even if I was able to buy. I prefer to spend my money on something else like old computers, or vinyls maybe

That is pretty much where I sit too. However, I also preferred cellphones with physical keypads and that is not really an option anymore so if a certain model has enough demand in the future it may become the only phone model type you will be allowed to buy so here is to hoping flip phones such as the newer ones do not get too popular, otherwise, you will be buying one and you will like it!

Personally, I think that is the better move myself as well but I just know the hype today is all about the duo still for some reason.
From the looks of it Apple has done the better job with the crease, but I would never buy one at such a ridiculous price when it is a guarantee that screen will fail just like all other folds at some point.

I suppose most phones I only keep for 4ish years anyway so if the fold or crease can last at least that long I wouldn't have a problem with it.
I MIGHT end up getting one come 2nd or 3rd generation but I didn't want to totally jump on board yet being the first iteration.
The December dates aren't because Apple didn't make enough supply, it's because demand was overwhelming. Pre-orders opened at 5am and delivery estimates hit January 2027 within about 30 minutes. The real bottleneck is component shortages plus [BRAND NAME REMOVED] issues on the foldable . So it's supply-constrained, orders wouldn't be slipping to 2027 if nobody wanted it
I’m fine with my 15 pro max. Gonna wait a couple of years

The quick slip to December reads less like huge demand and more like Apple keeping the first run intentionally tiny. A constrained launch basically guarantees sellout headlines, and they've done that playbook before.
As for the form factor, I get the appeal of flip phones but foldables have always lost me on the crease and the price. Would be curious whether the Duo actually solved the durability issues that made earlier foldables a gamble, or if it's just the same tradeoffs in a prettier package.
