I was messing around with minescape and I thought it would be cool to mess around with a private server and edit some stuff. What does this entail? Decrypting the files somehow?

Getting sourcecodes from games? |
(Oct 7, 2010 05:27 PM)Iconic Wrote: Well I've found out that the .jar file could be decompiled to get the class files. When I open these files in Eclipse it claims that the .class files have no source files. I'd assume this is something java programmers would know how to deal with? .class is bytecode It isn't the source. Source files are like .java .class is still compiled. Assuming that I was saying that might have been the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Also the source codes are in the game files. They just have to be decrypted or something like Excessum. Problem is no one seems to know how to do it. (Oct 8, 2010 03:21 PM)NETio Wrote: Last link is best :) I can't just decompile the .class files, what do i need to do :|

You can decompiled .class files.. Those decompilers read the byte code and translate it to usable Java code.
Also, saifix was stating on why the fuck would Jagex include their source code so simply to their game. I have already looked at RuneScape's obfuscated source, believe me its obfuscated so badly it would take probably a few months to deobfuscate it. Another thing, Java is not compiled and loaded like PHP with Ioncube, if it were in that case to be true, everyone would have to download Jagex's own custom JVM. |
