Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the pink hyperlink.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is an application used by malware experts all over the world. It's an anti-malware application, meaning it targets various kinds of malware (infections) and isn't specific to any form of malware such as spyware. This makes MBAM, as it's often referred to as, rather useful as an initial scan because it will search for and destroy many kinds of infections.
Here at Hack Forums, we recommend MBAM for a variety of reasons, but it's considered to be the precautionary scan of choice because of its huge virus signature database, regular updates, and dedicated support team. If you'd like to learn more about the brains behind the Malwarebytes' Organization, you can visit the Malwarebytes Forum.
For instructions on how we recommend you run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it's advised that you read the following guidelines.
Thank-you for taking the time to learn about the malware removal tool of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. If you have any questions in regards to the operation of this application and how you can conduct a scan with it, please contact me via private message.

Hi everyone,
This is, basically, the most in-depth you could get as far as instructing someone to run a MBAM scan goes. Feel free to use this as a reference, a canned speech, or whatever you desire. It was ten times better when the images were included, but since I can only have ten (and not the twenty-one needed), I'll have to settle for horrible hyperlinks.
Thanks,
Malware Boss

For instructions on how we recommend you run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it's advised that you read the following guidelines.
- First, download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 by clicking on the above link. Alternatively, you can Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Here!
- Once it has downloaded, change the setup's file name to 'Apples.exe'. To do this, follow the below instructions.
- Navigate to where you've downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. You should have been prompted to select a download location when you began downloading the file. If you're using Mozilla Firefox, the default location will be in the 'Downloads' folder located within 'My Documents'.
- Right-click on the file named 'mbam-setup-1.46.exe' and 'rename' it to 'Apples.exe', as shown below. Image, Image 2
- This is done because some forms of malware prevent the running of common security software. They're able to prevent the user from running particular file names. By renaming the file to 'Apples.exe', we've avoided any chance of this happening.
- The next step is to double-click on the 'Apples' file. A message similar to the below image will often appear on your screen. Simply hit the 'Run' button. Image
- You'll then be asked which language you'd like to use during the installation. The below box will appear. Image
- For the sake of this tutorial, I'll leave my language on the default, English. Click on 'Ok'.
- You'll now be greeted by the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Setup Wizard. On the first screen (as shown below), the wizard will tell you what it's installing (which is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, in this case). Click on 'Next'. Image
- Continuing through the Setup Wizard, we're met by another interface asking us to read through the License Agreement associated with this application. I'd recommend reading through the text, to understand fully what you're rights are. In any case, you should check the 'I accept the agreement' radio box, before hitting the button entitled, 'Next >'. Image
- After proceeding, the next phase of the Setup Wizard takes us to an interface displaying the change log and recent information associated with the Version 1.46. See below for more information. Click on 'Next >'. Image
- This next interface is probably the most important one. Instead of saving Malwarbytes' Anti-Malware in its default location, Browse to 'My Documents'. To do this, click on the 'Browse' button and navigate to 'My Documents'. The below image displays where you should have MBAM install to. Image
- If you'd rather allow Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to install to a different location, that's fine also. It's recommended that you don't leave the default location as the install path. This is because some advanced malware can target default file paths. Click on 'Next >'
- In the next interface, the Setup Wizard will ask us whether or not we'd like to have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware create a shortcut in the Start Menu folder. Whether you choose to allow MBAM to do this or not is completely up to you. Image
- If you wouldn't like Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to create a shortcut in the Start Menu folder, select the checkbox entitled, 'Don't create a Start Menu folder' located in the bottom-left hand corner of the Setup Wizard. Image
- Click 'Next >'. The next dialogue will ask you whether you'd like to install Desktop Icons and/or Quick Launch Icons. Once again, these are completely optional and aren't necessary. If you check the 'Create a desktop icon' checkbox, an icon for MBAM will be created on your Desktop. If you check the 'Create a Quick Launch icon', an icon for MBAM will be created on your Taskbar. Image
- Click 'Next >'. In this interface, the Setup Wizard will go over the install location and allow you to revise your settings. If you'd like to go back and change anything, click '< Back'. If you're ready to begin installing, click 'Install'.
Image
- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will now begin installing to the file path you previously indicated. This process should take a few seconds. After the install has completed, you'll come across the following interface. Image
- It is vital that you ensure both check boxes are checked. If you don't allow MBAM to update itself, there's a high chance that it won't be able to gather the latest signatures and I've even seen MBAM fail to work if it isn't able to connect to its server. You'll need an Internet connection for this to work. Click 'Finish'.
- You should receive the below dialogue as Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware updates its database. Image
- MBAM should then confirm that it's successfully updated its database. After this has happened, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will open. Image
- Ensure the radio box next to 'Perform Full Scan' is checked. Proceed by clicking on 'Scan'.
- When you click on 'Scan', the following interface will appear. Image
- It's crucial that you ensure all drives are selected. You may have more drives than I do, so ensure they're all checked before proceeding by clicking on 'Scan'.
- Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will begin scanning your system for malware. This process will usually take anywhere from half an hour through to three hours. It depends solely on the amount of information is has to scan and how much data is stored on your computer.
- For the purpose of maximizing MBAM's ability to detect malware, I've asked that you use the 'Perform Full Scan' option. This is, by far, the best option as it'll scan all areas of your system. If you choose other options such as the quick scan and the flash scan, they'll complete faster, but won't offer anywhere near the amount of thoroughness as the full scan will.
- When an infection is found, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will display so in bright, red lettering. Image
- When running a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, it's important to remember not to click anywhere on the interface. Doing so can cause the program to hang and could even make it crash.
- When the scan's completed, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will alert you. Then, it'll prompt you to click on the 'Show Results' button. This will take you to the following interface. Image
- As you can see, it'll list the infections found. Ensure all of the items found are checked. Then click on 'Remove Selected'. The following message should pop up, but in some cases, it won't. Image
- Accompanying this message will be a log file, as shown below. Image
- This is the most important part of the whole scan. The next step is vital!
- Copy the contents of the log file into your next reply. This will allow us malware experts to see exactly what malware was picked up by MBAM, where it was located, and what MBAM did to it.
Thank-you for taking the time to learn about the malware removal tool of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. If you have any questions in regards to the operation of this application and how you can conduct a scan with it, please contact me via private message.
