This guide will teach you what to post in this section and examples of good and bad threads.

What to post and what NOT to post.

Hello HackForums Upgraded Users. Every day there is an abundant number of posts in this section concerning being upgraded to l33t and Ub3r. There are also an unreasonable number of threads concerning your reputation. Before you realize that you cannot make a thread about achieving '20 rep!' here, you must realize; it is a number. It is a number on a internet forum. It should not define you, no matter how many members take it into consideration.

You might ask now, "Well, if I can't post about my upgraded usergroup, what CAN I post about?"

Well HF user, you can post a brag of a large sales thread. Maybe brag that you were accepted into college. Something important.
Suppose you are in a band and just had your first single, you can brag about that here. Who knows? Maybe you designed your own OS and want to brag about it. This is the place.

That is The Lounge. The Lounge is a place where we can post about off-topic and relaxed posts. Here is an even greater idea! If you feel the urge to post about your rep, post it in a thread that already exists on the subject. It would save loads of thread space.

Closing

Well, hopefully all members read this before posting in this section. Likewise, I suggest you check out all of the forums on HF and read the Help Docs. There very well might be a subforum in which your post can go. (If you are not sure, either post in the Lounge or do not post at all). Also, it is up to us as the members so mold HF how we want it. We make thread, we post, and we report posts. If we want, we can get things done, as a community.

Anyway, in accordance with my own ideals, here is my 'brag'.
Here are some recent events that are going on in my life, that I am proud of, and would like to express myself.

• Recently snowed here. Shoveled many neighbors sidewalks and shit, to be nice.
  
• Got my phone just recently.
  
• Been getting in more contact with my mother and other family.
  
• Getting my body in shape, starting it up again!
  
• In all honors classes in school. Loads of engineering classes as well.

Looks good, but people might be really happy about there "number" they have gotten. Not saying they should or shouldn't post the threads, but, we the people, shouldn't post in them then.
This is a good guide and people may not realize it, but, you are very right.

Now, my recent brags would be:
1. Just got a new phone - LG Cookie (All touch screen)
2. Broke my iPod, borrowed my brothers, it got stolen (Karma?)
3. Talked to a guy about buying some "Yellow Dr Dre Beats" - $230, I'm getting them for Christmas.
4. Found some sick new bands ;).
5. Wheeled 2 girls who both say I'm cute :).

Alright, and, I think people would post it in the lounge if there wasn't a "Bragging Rights" Section. The "Brag" part throws people off and just makes them think they can post literally anything in this section. They're happy they got something, so they want to brag about it and they post it in the section that says "Bragging Rights".

Very true. This needs to be a HQ subforum. Whenever Omni starts upgrading the accounts, it is flooded with 'just got l33t!' and 'just got ub3r!'.

Agreed, it does get a bit overwhelming, by the way thanks for the guide lines. There were a lot of posts earlier about nonsense goals.

Well I'm glad I updated my bragging thread to involve me being able to afford my MMA classes again. No but seriously, thank you. I specifically waited to achieve a lot of the "forum goals" before posting a thread to prevent spamming with crap. Sticky request on this thread.

This discussion is made many times and omni stated that you could post here whatever you want. Your thread is good but (no offense) it's pointless because people won't stick to these rules.. They're allowed to post anything they want here.. I know some threads are quite nonsense but bragging about postcount and rep isn't a disaster. Also staff isn't allowed to move threads from this section to the lounge.
