The Final Blaze Of Glory

There has always been times when a member decides to go out in a blaze of glory. I use this term to describe it when a member creates a thread going all out on the site, staff, policy or even me. They rant about how the sites run poorly. How new members are low quality. How some new policy is complete shit. Or maybe that scammers run HF and all I care about is money.

These members are trolls. They are making their last posts knowing they will get banned. These are often long-term or even well-reputed members. For many reasons they've decided that it's time they leave HF and instead of simply logging out and moving on they decide to get one last rant about everything they don't like about HF.

These events are often triggered by a rep fuck, ban, new policy, or a recent scam. They feel disgruntled and want to be heard. They want to express their anger. It's understandable but let's be honest. It's not productive. It's actually counter-productive as few of these threads produce anything of value. The same complaints are made and even if they are valid complaints there are rarely anything constructive about how to cope and correct these problems.

I hold no ill-will toward members that want to leave or have a grievance. But you contact me personally if you want to take stab at me. Creating a public thread in an attempt to gain member support is cowardly. I won't stand for a mob mentality rising up against my policies or how this site is run. HF is not a dictatorship. HF is not a democracy. HF is not a government. It's a website I personally own that is a large and active community. I've never advertised it as anything else. With 200,000 members this place cannot be run by members. One person must make decisions.

Ultimately I'm the only guy that faces consequences based on the sites failure or success in policies. If I make members happy I make more money. If I piss off the community I make less money. So my intention is never to make less money. It's to grow this community as best I can. This goal doesn't always make all members happy. It's inevitable that a certain group is going to get ticked off at my actions. However I'm not going to pander to a select few members. I'm going to focus on the overall community. Even if these few are vocal and don't recognize why certain policies are vital to the sites longevity.

I'm aware of problems here. I know full well our weak points. I've read every complaining rant. I'm not so arrogant to think HF is perfect. Matter of fact all the problems we have plague me daily but solutions aren't nearly as easy as stating the problems we have. Solutions for members mean less problems for me. So finding solutions is ultimately very important to me personally.

With all that said. I think it's time to officially ban these "Blaze of Glory" threads. I'm tired of attention seeking disgruntled members deciding they're going to attack this community, me, and staff. End result is always the same. Their account banned. So I'm officially banning these threads and the only course of action will be the perma banning of the account and the junking of the thread. They only create drama and serve no positive purpose here.

I'm sure some will express how this isn't fair or that I'm trying to stop complaints. That's not it. There are ways to express a problem and offer suggestions to improve HF. I even opened the suggestions area a few weeks ago. So that argument is null. I'm not trying to control speech either. I'm just tired of the drama stirred up by disgruntled members on their way out.

If you feel yourself coming to the edge. Here is a solution. Log out. Come back if you want at later time or don't. But when you go out in a Blaze of Glory you can kiss your account good bye.

Thank you.
So if someone has an issue we can just talk to you about it?
I assume you're talking mostly about Panik. 🤣

It seems like that is so.

Finally. This mixes with my suggestion to have harsher punishment on the conspirators, but to ban all the morons who think HF is "dieing" is better. I'm fed up replying to those butthurt fagg0ts, and there's a lot.

If a member PM's you a rant at Staff, yourself, or the site in general does that equal the same punishment, or any punishment?

Depends on the situation. There is a feedback area and a suggestions area.

If your general feedback is "This site is shit" then just log out because I'm going to close your account.

If your suggestion is "I'd like to see higher quality posts maybe we can do..." then post it in suggestions.

If you want to tell me how poor a job I'm doing and say how much staff sucks. Sure, PM me. No guarantee what response you'll get but 100% if you post I'm closing the account.

I'm just tired of the drama being stirred up all for nothing. The member is going to get banned anyways and they know that. Considering we get 1500+ new members per day and maybe one or two BOG threads a month I don't see how I should give a shit that .001 percent of members don't like it here.

I was expecting this thread to be honest. I agree with you. If a member doesn't like HF nor its members, then he should leave it without creating these drama threads.
I'm assuming this is regarding Paniks latest thread. I agree with him, but not with his approach. His post was basically an unproductive rant.
Omniscient my problem with you is...

We don't talk enough, I gave you chocolate and flowers on valentines day. Yet you give me nothing for my birthday or even look at me during anymore!
I desire your attention!
I feel that it's prudent to point out that banning these threads won't actually affect the user - they would be banned anyway.

However, if it gives you grounds to instantly remove those threads, I completely agree with the rule.

You also have to consider the fact that anyone who has a jaded view of the forum and how it is run may take this as a confirmation to darker deeds. By no means is this an accusation, and you'll probably state that you don't care about it.

However, you don't put out the fire by turning off the fire alarm.

Just my two cents.

Previous rants have resulted in small bans and limitations. Most idiots make them because they know they can come back. This would scare more than half of them.

That's your assumption. Just because Op made an attention thread does not mean he was perfect.( He brags about his troll thread about Hf being hacked as a parameter to gauge his efficacy?) He had 8 pages of warnings! In-fact, as his thread proved, it was all about him, his post count, his inability to get the Protector award even after reporting in 4 digits?

Modus operandi of these attention seekers is so clear now. They need Oxygen to survive on HF. When they realize that they being unsuccessful in their efforts, they fall back on the tested and tried method of being a nuisance and evoking drama.

I seriously fail to understand this here. Dramatics are short lived always.

Read this.

Both I and Omniscient were referring to members who had an imminent permanent ban.

My Dog has peed multiple times in the car on the way to the vets.

Quote is completely flawed.
