I often watch romance animes with tsundere-type characters (Toradora! and Shakugan no Shana are my all-time favorites <3), and I did some research out of sheer boredom, and apparently they're considered "girl animes".

Now, I really couldn't give less of a fawk, but who exactly categorizes these...? 😶

Is it really uncommon for boys to watch romance animes? Cuz I think they're just amazingly beautiful and perfect 😉

I would have a feeling that the "community" categorizes them. You aren't the only one who watches "girl" animes. Hell, I was surprised when I found out Strike Witch's demographic was female; and I really couldn't give a damn :D
Good anime belong to alot of demographics. Female demographics are slightly undiscovered in my opinion.

Also: You'll be loved for liking Shakugan no Shana. Especially by a certain person who shall remain unnamed.

I find the labeling of Anime's to be kind of idiotic when it comes to things like is this a Boy or a Girl Anime.
You enjoy an anime that deals with romance and I see nothing wrong with a guy liking it.

It doesn't really matter what the demographic is to be honest. Many guys watch girl(or shoujo) anime because it's cute. It's all fine, the categories don't matter. All that does matter is if the anime is good and if it suits your tastes. :3

EDIT: Also, Shana is targeted at a male audience because, like I stated above, there is too much cute.

I'm glad that I am not the only one who is into romance animes. xD
I've watched Clannad, Toradora, Kanon, 5 Centimeters per Second, Itazura na Kiss, Midori no Hibi, and The girl who leapt through time.
I loved all the stories and I also think that some of the scenes are really amazing.

I'm still looking for more romance animes to watch with a good story. :D

Hey I do too! I don't give a fuck. It's enjoyable for me to watch, and is relocatable to life. If anyone has a problem with that, then screw 'em. Toradora is awesome. Oreimo is hilarious. Minami-Ke is funny. Yuru Yuri is adorably funny.

It's good that I'm not the ONLY one. Romance animes are really the only thing that I can watch when it comes to romance. Movies and the such just don't fit my style, and the Japanese are very unique at expressing their thoughts/ideas/feelings when it comes to animation.

Watching Hanasaku iroha atm which features the main characters girls but i still feel its fine for males to watch. I dont give a fuck what other think ^^

Its just a genre, girl anime, boy anime, who cares its all anime and every genre has its gems. There are many "girl" anime that has me crying like a girl so ill never judge. ^^

This is exactly what I was going to post! Haha! Do not worry about what genre an anime is considered to be in, its just a way to generalize and label things. So do not worry about it one bit!

I'm in the same boat as you. I love the romance and slice-of-life animes, yet they're aimed at "girls." Toradora! is one of my favourites, along with K-ON! and a few others. :p

Not normally keen on Tsundre, cause I always think: "FUCKING BEAT THE BITCH UP." Ah well.

Oh, it seems that i like girl animes then, I do not think there's something wrong with it.
I just like to watch animes with romance into it, I don't get why it's called girl anime, since according to what i know, and see, there are lots of guys watching it too.
