I don't even know where to get the NIC Driver for Vista.. also is this reversible?
As far as walking you through it, I already laid out exactly what to do to change the reported MAC address on any NIC. Just follow those steps. The hard part, and it's not that difficult is getting and installing the Vista driver for your NICs
If you know or make known the make and model of your computer and also the make and model of your NICs then it is possible to find a Vista driver for those cards either yourself or I can also find them as well.
And, yes it is completely reversible, simply select the bullet
Not present on that Advanced tab of properties and it will use the original firmware MAC address. And you can reinstall the Windows 7 driver any time you want if you decide to.

There is also an unsecured network in my neighborhood but its a belkin router. I can connect to that one 100% fine but my own network.. nope.. always say cant connect.. etc.. and if it does connect it likes to drop connection... Someone else in my house is using a Vista laptop and never has issues.. i never knew why. Now I'm thinking its for the reason you stated above.
The virtual adapter is intended to allow your wifi card to be a hotspot to host other devices which can then use your internet connection. While interesting in theory it does in practice however cause your wifi card to scan for other wifi connections that may want to connect, your wifi card can then lock onto other signals causing your own wifi connection to drop, disconnect and basically be at the mercy of any other wifi enabled device in the vicinity of your machine. By not having the virtual adapter bound to your wifi adapter this can not occur.

thanks.
If you wish I can Teamviewer with you and show you exactly what to do, even find and install any drivers required, PM me if you want to explore that option.
Take care
