DOCTYPE DECLARATION
When we talk about HTML, it usually means the version of the language and address of the file containing the definition for this language.
This declaration is called the Document Type Declaration and is located at the beginning of each HTML page under the "tag" DOCTYPE.
The reason why the word tag is placed in quotation marks, is that, as this is not a real HTML tag, but the instructions sent to the web browser.
As for the DOCTYPE instructions (declaration), it usually looks like this:
What does the document type definition is used?
It is known that different browsers differently interpret HTML documents identical content.
But, hypothetically, things should not work so.
HTML, though fairly simple language tags, due to its vast usage, is treated like any other language,
in which he classified as the standards and rules that define and publish the institution called the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
These rules shall be published as a document type definition, ie, the scheme which is to operate a particular document parsing.
When you start to create a website, you should decide which version of the language you will be using, or how you will build a document,
which relates primarily to the style component (if it will be implemented styles to the elements or created separately).
Depending on the method of construction documents, depending on definitions and the content of the document type (DOCTYPE).
Default Document Type (DTD)
The use of DTD is to say the browser, how have you coded your page how can it show the page properly.
If you don't put DOCTYPE declaration, browser may enter into Quirks Mode which resluts,
that your website doesn't look on browser like you have expected.
Assuming that you use Dreamweaver, you can set the default DOCTPYE declaration for your documents.
