I need to know how many bots per gig of ram a vps (irc server) can hold (Like, roughly how many).

Also, where should I get my vps? I heard Photonvps is good, so I'm thinking there.

A VPS? Are you thinking about a PuTTy? If so, PuTTy's don't hit off bots.

Jus Buy ur own Dedicated server it will be alot easier if ur working with a vps putty client

geez, their plans for 1g of RAM are expensive x_X anyways, how many bots you planning on holding? get a 1gb RAM vps if you feel is lagging and the RAM usage is too high than upgrade it to another one. UnrealIRCD (assuming you will use that) does not consume a lot of resources, so you can start off with a 1gb RAM vps.

For irc server with users ~4k you need around 5 Mbps bandwidth and RAM 512 MB. An irc server serve for text only so do not need worry about RAM.

his intents are malicous, i know 1gb dedi ram can hold 500 in a channel with some lag but that would more then likely be due to the host overselling....

Just start spreading then when you get to 500 or so bots, check your CPU and RAM usage, then you can estimate how much more your shit could hold.
