Method: "Symlink Bypass"

Symlink Bypassing is a method which is used to access folders on a server which the user isn't permitted. For example the home directory can only be accessed by a root level user. However with symlink bypass you can touch files inside home directory. It allows attackers to bypass open base Dir and extract the configuration file from other domains/websites hosted on the server your shell is on.

Here's a Step-by-Step Video Tutorial using the WSO shell and the Needed scripts to achieve symlinking from your uploaded shell.

Thanks I've been meaning to post this method but I wanted to test it to see if I could get it to work for me, and it did. I use the WSO shell alot so it was fairly simple..but I think symlinking is alittle more advanced to the average skid so I dont think there will be many replys on this thread until they underdstand that other sites hosted on that server are all accessible. 🎉

Agree but there are some who can understand this and hopefully they succeed hacking a lot of websites !

For some reason the web server doesn't execute perl. Apparently .pl files don't execute on the webserver.

Anyway to fix this? Or do I have to actually install perl client sided?
