Not sure but...

I was just checking through the processes open in my task manager and I was just looking up what each of them were and I came across one named 'unit.exe'. I Googled it to see what it was and a few sites said it was a trojan or malware. I couldn't see for sure but I'm not sure. Could anyone give me any help? My computer's about 2 weeks old...

I also have unit_manager.exe there too? Help would be appriciated.
Hey for identifying if processes are legit or not I use Comodo Firewall, it shows the IP which each process is connecting to and with a quick search you can find out if it is dodgy or not. I really recommend using it as well, it comes in really handy.

edit: Oh and from the name of your process it is something to do with this http://mediatrix.com/
Where is unit.exe located, exactly?

Thanks. I actually use Comodo firewall. I'm not really sure how to use it. Could tell me how to do this please?

Is it in view active connections? Also could you tell me how to see whether it's legit or not?

I just see it in my task manager. If I right click and press 'Open file location' then it doesn't seem to do anything.
Open up Comodo and at the bottom of the interface you will see active connections, locate Unit.exe in that list and there will be an IP address shown to the right of it followed by the amount of data it has uploaded/downloaded. Type that IP address into Google and see what you find, you will be able to find out what company the server is associated with.
  • Open Task Manager by holding down CTRL + ALT + Delete

  • Click View and then click Select Columns

  • Scroll down and put a checkmark beside Command Line.

  • Click OK

You should be able to see the locations now. Reply with the location of unit.exe

Okay if I go into Firewall and click active connections unit.exe isn't in there... but if I go into Defense+ then I see that and unit_manager.exe then it doesn't list the IP but it says under the 'Company' that it's 'Comodo Security Solutions, Inc.'
My anti virus can scan tasks and tells me if they are malware or not.
Okay thanks. I checked it out with the support feature in Comodo and they assured me that both of the processes were part of Comodo. Sorry for wasting your time and thankyou for the support!
Could you check if it is located here: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\

Some things are undetectable to anti virus software.

Can you do what I said in order to be sure?
