Hey Hack Forums! I'm not going to be using colors for this tutorial, I don't want complaints that it's "hard to read". So, I'm going to get straight and to the point. A successful ebook can make you thousands of dollars FAST. You just need a good topic. Let's get started.
1) Choosing your topic
To choose your topic, you need to look at what you're interested in, your niche. Think about what you like to do. If you're a web developer making a lot of money, write an e-book on how to make money developing websites, something you are good at. People can tell if you don't like what you're doing. You need to ENJOY writing the e-book.
2) Writing the book itself
Fire up a word processor like Microsoft Word. Create a title page with word itself, or make one with an image editor. Now, create a table of contents template on two pages. You can delete the second one if you don't need it, once you're done writing. Now, start writing. I recommend using the style you'd see in a real book. Separating into chapters, etc. A good e-book should be 10-30 pages, depending on the topic. You can go over, if you're going in-depth.
3) PDF Format
Now, time to export as a PDF. On Macs, go up to the File menu, and select PDF. Then, click "Save as PDF" and save it. I'm not sure how on Windows.
4) Website
Now, you need to get a website for your e-book. You can get help, if needed, here: https://hackforums.net/forumdisplay.php?fid=50. You can read this tutorial to get a free domain here: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=164908. Now, create your website.
5) Sales
Set up your Paypal account (it should be a business class account). Set up a checkout system to buy your e-book.
6) Marketing
Now, It's time to advertise. A good place to advertise is the Sellers Section on HackForums. Don't spam though. You can advertise in your signature as much as you want. You can also send emails to people (spam emails are not appreciated, but you can do it).
7) Getting Paid
If you did this right, and wrote a good e-book, and advertised correctly, you should start getting customers. If there is enough interest in it, you might consider writing a sequel to build on the concepts of the previous. If you DO write a sequel, a thing to consider is giving a discount to people who already bought your e-book.
Congratulations! You just made money by writing a book!
