Rumiko Takahashi and Others Draw Manga to Support Quake Areas
Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura) and seven other manga creators will release a compiled book volume of specially-drawn one-shot manga stories in March 2013 with all royalties and proceeds being donated to helping restore the areas devastated by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan.
Manga artist Fujihiko Hosono (Gallery Fake, Sasuga no Sarutobi) developed the idea of the "Heroes Comeback" project. Each one-shot will feature a character from one of the artists' previous works. Hosono's one-shot (pictured at right) features the protagonist from his Gallery Fake manga visiting the Tohoku region after the disaster. The first of two chapters of the one-shot was published in the 47th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine on Monday.
After Hosono has his one-shots featured in the 47th and 48th issues of Weekly Big Comic Spirits, the 49th issue will feature a one-shot by Masami Yuuki (Birdy the Mighty) from his Kyukyoku Chojin R manga. The 50th issue of the magazine will then feature a one-shot by Sensha Yoshida (Utsurun Desu).
Other artists featured in the project are:
- Kazuhiro Fujita (Ushio & Tora, Bakegyamon)
- Takashi Shiina (Zettai Karen Children)
- Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist, Silver Spoon)
- Kazuhiko Shimamoto (The Skull Man, Anime Tenchō) and Ishimori Productions
Takahashi, Fujita, Shiina, and Arakawa's one-shots will be featured in Weekly Shonen Sunday, and Shimamoto and Ishimori Productions' one-shot will be featured in Monthly Shonen Sunday.
Life-Size Flower Gundam Bust in Time-Lapse Full Bloom
Self-described "Gundam videographer" darwinfish posted a new video of the "Flower Gundam," the life-size topiary bust of the title robot from the Mobile Suit Gundam anime, in full bloom on Saturday. The topiary stands about 7 meters (about 23 feet) tall next to the full-length, life-size Gundam statue erected at the Diver City Tokyo plaza on Odaiba island. The project was completed September 29.
This amazing topiary was on display from September 29 through October 28 to celebrate the "29th National Urban Greenery Fair Tokyo" event.
“Monster Teacher” Slaps Kids 120 Times in 30 Minutes
A Chinese teacher who managed to slap her infant pupils over 120 times in only half an hour has attracted widespread condemnation in China and beyond.
The footage came from a kindergarten in China’s Shanxi province, and shows a female teacher slapping her young charges in excess of 120 times over a 30 minute period, apparently dissatisfied with their mental arithmetic.
Excerpts have received wide coverage in Chinese media, to say nothing of online.
The abuse came to light when a father noticed how badly his little daughter’s face was swollen, and demanded an explanation from the school – which for some reason had installed CCTV in the classroom. The woman responsible has reportedly since been sacked.
MadoHomu Yuri Nuzzle Film Fetches $13,500
![[Image: 8TCB0.gif]](https://i.imgur.com/8TCB0.gif)
A tiny strip of film from the new OP to the Puella Magi Madoka Magica movie edition has fetched ¥1,081,001 at auction – for reasons which are not hard to fathom, as it shows the already much cherished Madoka-Homura OP nuzzle.
The random film reel snips, given to movie-going otaku with the right tickets, form a lottery of sorts, with some unlucky souls cursed with snatches of wall, blank screen, or even QB.
Others however – such as the lucky starter of this auction – got film worth rather more than its weight in gold
Spoiler (Click to View)
As was widely predicted, the film surpassed the ¥1,000,000 mark, proving the ultimate in collectibles for Madocchi-x-HomuHomu fans – though some have unsportingly pondered whether the entire reel could not have been had for less…
Chikan Cop Let Off “To Protect Vi.ctim’s Feelings”
Police have declined to prosecute one of their officers who was caught groping a woman on a train, “in order to protect her feelings.”
According to Nara police’s own investigations, the unidentified 58-year-old officer spent 10 minutes groping the nether regions of a woman on her way to work on a train one morning, in classic chikan style.
After being caught he confessed, but prosecutors declined to press charges as “although he admits the charges, we have decided to forego prosecution out of concern for his vi.ctim’s feelings.”
Police refused to explain this decision, citing “privacy concerns,” and whether the vi.ctim approves or not is also unknown.
They have also avoided commenting on whether he will face any disciplinary measures, only saying “a judgement as to whether he will face any punishment or not will be made in the coming days.”
The Same Week, Another Cop is Let Off On Charges For Child Prostitution: “They Looked 20!”
Police dropped child prostitution charges against one of their number who was caught paying girls aged 13 and 16 for 3P sex, accepting his excuse that “they looked at least 20,” prompting much outrage online.
According to Hokkaido prefectural police, one of their (completely unidentified) officers repeatedly paid two girls aged 13 and 16 for sex at a Sapporo hotel, having met them with the aid of a deai-kei site.
After he was caught, the officer, in his forties, claimed “they looked as if they were at least over 20″ and maintains they lied about their ages.
Prosecutors inexplicably dropped multiple child prostitution charges against him, although police did punish him with a 3 month suspension. He has since tendered his resignation, perhaps intending to take up teaching instead.
The “I didn’t know they were underage” defence is not usually admissible in underage sex trials, even when lies and false IDs are employed by the underage party, and such prosecutions commonly end in convictions – although police prosecutors can still decline to prosecute in the first place, as happened here.
Online, the fact that scores of similar prostitution cases involving defendants protesting that they did not know their partners were underage ended in conviction has prompted a great deal of comment, even more outraged than it is envious.

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World
![[Image: 14415.jpg]](https://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/anime/7/14415.jpg)
Genres: Action, Adventure, Slice of Life
Synopsis
Based on a hit light novel series by Keiichi Sigsawa, the philosophical Kino's Journey employs the time-honored motif of the road trip as a vehicle for self-discovery and universal truth. Deeply meditative and cooler than zero, the series follows the existential adventures of the apt marksman Kino along with talking motorcycle Hermes as they travel the world and learn much about themselves in the process. Imaginative, thought-provoking, and sometimes disturbing, Kino's journey is documented in an episodic style with an emphasis on atmosphere rather than action or plot, though still prevalent.
AMV Scope
This is just... Oh my god, shut up and take my money.
