(TUT) How to change your IP for noobs!! (TUT)

So here is a tut on how to change your IP address for noobs. This is a great method that works 99.9% of the time. This is for members who are getting hit offline repeatedly, if you use a vpn which does mask you ip through the use of tunneling it does not change the fact that someone does have your ip address and it is unlikely that new kids keep getting your ip and hitting you for no reason its most likely that one person who got it. So your option is to change it this is a simple process.

This is a very overlooked simple solution to your problem!
1. Call your ISP
2. Tell your ISP to change your IP address

Majority of the time they will change it no questions asked but if they do ask just make something up or say its irrelevant. They should not ask but if they do just say something like that or you can say its because someone is hitting your IP offline. They will change you IP ASAP. No programs no downloads no risk no messing up your router for 3 days like i once did many years ago lol . just a simple call hello change my ip yes sir thank you have a good day :) . This my good friends is how you change you IP address. Enjoy!

You under stand that most home connections are setup with dynamic ip and will change if you reset your router. other times you can look on your router for a DHCP release time and that is basically an assigned time most likely by your isp that designates how long untill you can change your IP or your services can change. calling them and asking them to change it should be a last resort.

If you are getting hit offline just turn on router logging if some one is attacking you it has a high chance of picking it up and you can simply block the attacking addresses.

well on my router and any router i have ever been on my Ip has not changed for a good amount of time. i released renewed changed router settings ect.. and it would not change my ip and i reset it about 60 times , this was during a time i had a kid on xbox hitting me off every time i got on. i just could not change it ( this was many years ago of course as a security professional i know many ways) but i found just calling and asking they are very understanding and will change it no problem. it is there job its not like its a big deal ?

well some companies charge you to change your ip. this also goes along with the type of internet you are getting from the ISP like business or corporate. like i said look for DHCP lease on your router if it has some thing like 30seconds that is how long you need to have your router off. you can also check if your ip is static or dynamic go here http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and click additional ip details under Assignment: it will say static or dynamic. since you have no problem calling your ISP ask them how long you need to reset your router for if you want to change your ip.

by the way if by release and renew you are talking about command prompt that is only reseting your network adapter not your router or modem.
Not all companies will do this at all , and some companies will send a service call so see if there is a fault..

If no fault the customer will get charged for the call out fee / and the service./
if you are getting hit offline by a kid non stop if you call your isp i promise you they will change your ip address i dont see what the issue is. or at least they will do something about it.
