I haven't seen anyone do this yet, so I thought it would be cool to share this.

You'll need Skype 5.7 or below; I'm using version 4.2 portable which can be found here. Extract and run, just make sure you don't have any other instances of Skype open.
If you've already got Skype 5.7 or below you don't have to download anything. To check your version of Skype go to Help > About Skype



Now go to http://www.SkypeIMG.com/ or http://www.Skype4IMG.com/ (seems to have better results).
Once you're there you can choose any preset image you like or provide a custom image link.



Click submit or send and you should see a page with the following...

Follow the instructions and you're good to go!

Images won't look the best, but they won't look too bad.

Also, if someone tries to quote your image or copy and paste it back into Skype...

They'll get a bunch of black lines.

Yes, quit Skype and delete the 'data' folder wherever you extracted Skype portable.
Start Skype up and log in.

Odd, I tried it myself with the latest version of Skype and it didn't work.
There's a character limit on the latest Skype, you'll get "..." if you try to paste your code into chat.

Not to mention HTML isn't supported.

You're right, the ability to send messages with HTML was removed in 5.8 [Source]
