Mac equivalent to Windows task manager?

PCfag here.

Is there a Mac equivalent to a task manager? I'm particularly looking for my performance monitor where I can see the load charts on each of my cores. If so, how would I access it? I'm not really looking forward to downloading any 3rd party apps though.

Also, how do I take screenshots? I'm OS X 10.8.2
Are you talking about the Activity Monitor?
Activity monitor for showing tasks. Otherwise it would be the force quit menu, which can be accessed with the hotkey: Cmd-Shift-Esc

This.

You can also quit tasks via Activity Monitor, though it's safer to do it through Force Quit.

I forgot to post it before, so here are the screenshot hotkeys

The hotkeys for taking screenshots are as follows:
Full screen: Command+Shift+3
